My creative space

I am linking up to a wonderful party Where Bloggers Create This is hosted by
My Desert Cottage.  100's of bloggers have linked up to show their creative spaces.

This is mine!
When I left pharmaceutical Sales a year ago the first thing I did was turn my 10 X 12 guest room into a sewing/craft room.  I was sick of pulling boxes out of every room in the house to do a project.  I now have it all in one place.

Now, if you go to Where Bloggers Create you will see the most magnificent, fluffy, dreamy, rooms, mine is a little more utilitarian.

This is my sewing table with cabinet's on each side and ton's of storage  junk hidden underneath.

This is a Slatwall commonly used in retail stores.  Look at those baskets and bins all filled with luscious flowers, laces, paints, and ton's of ribbon's.  The Slatwall is great because this is a small room and the Slatwall uses minimal space.  I painted the Slatwall the same color as the room so it would blend in.

The table tucked under the Slatwall is on wheels and opens up to a generous
 4 X 6 crafting table

This is the desk area, hidden under the table is file cabinets and more junk!

Me and Billie the cat my crafting companion

You should see the room tonight it looks like it got hit by a wind storm!!  This was the one time it was all tidy!

Thanks for stopping by!

Carol

  8. It's awesome and I enjoyed seeing it.
I rent space at an antique store and than do the monthly occassional sale as they are called here which is just open 4 days a month and we change out our rooms each month. "Buying treasures" is the best part and the paychecks :)

  15. Hi Carol!

Your comment made me smile this morning!

Now I have to disagree your craft room is NOT boring! It's PINK and I LOVE it!! And it's around the same size as mine so I know how small it is but yours seems a lot larger.

But if you want to add some punch, how about some wall art that you can easily remove if you don't like it or add some pieces that are black.

I wish I could visit your booth! I see so many things I LOVE in there!!! But the next best thing is your online store and I'm now a follower!!!

  16. Hello Carol, Thanks for stopping by and for following me! It's so nice to make new friends!
Your studio is lovely-I envy the slatwall-what a great way to organize your things. Everything is coordinated or hidden away. I hope to get a curtain around my worktables to hide the mess underneath. I love the idea! Have a great weekend. Let's visit again soon...Sherry

  34. Hi Carol, It's me again and thanks for the visit, I live in CA. where it is also hot and I do have air conditioning but not in the long sewing room as it is 1/2 converted garage so all it has is a ceiling fan, I'm going to invest in a floor or table fan also and when it is too unbearable I go to my 1/2 room where the scrap booking and paper crafts take place as it IS air conditioned like the rest of the house, I would have sent this via email except I didn't see a spot to connect to. Again thanks for the visit and I love your space! XOXO Will return also!

  39. Yes that slat wall is the greatest. I used to work in a retail scrapbook store and we had that slat wall all over the place. I have some pegboard with paper racks, but I wish I had some of that slat wall up. Cute space.

  40. Oh I wouldn't call it utilitarian at all - it looks like you're very well organized and it's pretty too! Love it. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier and nice to meet you.

  46. That slatwall is a great find! I love all those little baskets filled with goodies, out to see and grab.
And craft rooms never look as good as they do in pictures, mine sure doesn't, and I wouldn't want it any other way, it is a room meant to be used.

  47. What a beautiful space! I love that you went to work on it as soon as your career changed - nothing like going for what you are passionate about right away!
It is so feminine and I too love the slat wall / storage.
The grey swirls on my pink walls are actually a stencil. It is rather large (maybe 3 feet) and can be found on an internet search for home decor stencils. I do not remember the name of the place exactly, but if you want that exact one, let me know and I will look for it. I know you can buy it online and that they are out of Orange County, CA.

  48. Hi Carol,

The slatwall is such a great use of space...with the added bonus of always having things organized and in plain view. CLEVER! Your space has all the essentials...the color pink, a furry friend, and beautiful supplies.

  56. You have a GREAT space to do your crafting! So neat and organized, unlike mine at the moment! Just saw your comment on my blog and saw that you're from Minnesota! Woo Hoo! But we spend all our vacations in Florida!

And,yes, I march to the beat of a different drummer and I don't have PINK in my creative space! I love it when I see it but don't want to always LIVE with it. I actually haven't done much "crafting" or art for years so my CREATIVITY right now is expressed in collecting my vintage treasures and "repurposing" or "refreshing" them and then transferring that into my home also. For myself, I like bright, happy colors. But I LOVE IT ALL so much I'm having a hard time finding what style and color to stick with!!! Every time I find something I love, i want to CHANGE! Guess I'm still trying to find my own little niche. Have a great week! sandy : )

  62. Hi Carol, Thanks for dropping by my blog today....your space is just too cool. I love the delicate colors. I am admiring your "skirts" on your tables. I would like to make some kind of skirt for my sewing area table. When you get a moment, how do you actually attach the skirt to the table? Do you use velcro? I love that idea, and feel confident in making the skirt, but a little nervous about how to make it stay. Thank you for the inspiration. Take care, Nancy
