When I was transforming this little nightstand
I was thinking French,
Actually French lace
I painted the body heirloom white
Then got out my new pink paint brushes from Ace
Mixed up some French pink (Or what I thought was French pink) for the drawer
I cut out a piece of lace to cover the drawer and sprayed the lace (Not the drawer) with temporary adhesive.
Then stood a distance away and LIGHTLY sprayed over the lace with black paint
If you stand to close or spray to heavy you will have a muddy mess!
Pull the lace off immediately
I did a little black glaze down each side of the stand in the grooves
You could use lace as a stencil for all kinds of projects
Picture frames or mats, glass, mirrors, vases
and in any color combination
Just throwing the idea out there, I know your creative minds are working!
Happy Creating
Carol

Totally love the make over. The lace looks fantastic...so much so I had actually thought you had glued lace to the front. Pink brushes...yummy...look to good to use :)

Oh my! This is beautiful. What a great way to use lace, I love it but you can only have so many doilies.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteNow, aren't you just the cleverest! This little ugly stand is now tres chic! I love it.

That came out so adorable!!! Love the lines of that sweet night stand and you can't appreciate it until it's painted white!

Carol, I am always amazed and inspired when I visit here! What a wonderful idea...and what a great transformation! I have 2 lace curtain panels that got terribly mildewed (long story)...I washed them, and they're better, but now thanks to you I think I have a great purpose for them...stencils!
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of repurposing...it's always on display at the Polka Dot Closet!!
Have a fabulous week!
Hugs & Blessings,
Becky
That is so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea and

I love this project! It's so soft & pretty. Great tip about standing back when spraying the lace. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love it, Carol! What a fun project, and you executed it well! I posted about lace not too long ago, and I made a lacy tray at a ceramics class. Pretty!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI might buy a couple of other lacy pieces I spied at Anthropologie :D
Hi Carol!
ReplyDeleteI like the way the drawer turned out. Very pretty and feminine.
Gorgeous piece Carol...very french and nicely done!
ReplyDeleteMy boy had a blast in Orlando..he is on his way home now as we speak. I can't wait for him to get back to hear all about it...oh and of course squeeze his face and kiss em!
Oh I love how this turned out- what a great project.
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty! Carol, you have some of the most amazing ideas. I think I would buy everything in your booth!

ReplyDeleteCarol, great job on that little nightstand. I have thought of using lace in that way but never really tried it. Thanks again for the great how-to! Always enjoy reading your posts.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that's not real lace on that nightstand??? Ummm?? It looks so real Carol and what a great idea. Never thought to use black. Now I have another "to do" to add to my list. :) xoxo

You just keep coming up with one fabulous idea after another Carol! I have an old end table that could benefit from an update and this seems like the perfect touch. Thanks for always being so inspiring with not only great ideas, but thrifty ones to boot!

Off to dig up some lace!

This one was utterly UNexpected! I love the pink, and then to top it with black made the whole thing just pop.
ReplyDeleteI have a little night stand up in the attic with a drawer. Hmmm.
(I'll end up with the mud if I try it. I just know it...)
Carol,
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cool idea. Spray adhesive is hard for me to work with. I always muck up my hands, but I am going to try this on something flat that I am not afraid to mess up. Thank you for sharing! Have a great day.
Hugs,
Olivia

ReplyDeleteYou always come up with the most creative things!! And thank you so much for sharing them with us!!
This came out beautifully. I have used paper doilies as stencils with spray paint.

If I am fortunate enough to come across some lace, I will def. post a tute with something made of it for you! In fact, I just made a dress, and used a little bit of Dollar store lace to embellish, just need to dye it, will post soon! Thanks for following!

Great idea. Thanks for including the adhesive product in the photo. Tackling a new project is so much easier if you get the right stuff in the beginning : )
