When I found this sign I knew it would be perfect......For Something. It hung around my garage for a while until the light bulb went off.......A Laundry Sign!
Not that I don't like country.......but, well OK, I admit, I don't like country!
I used Heirloom white paint and a water slide decal made with a frame from Graphics Fairy that I added flowers and lettering to.
I did a little sanding to see the original blue paint
Now, I would hang this is in my laundry room......If I had one! Since we don't have basements in Florida most of the older homes (Like mine) have the washer/dryer in the garage.
I think I'll be bringing this cutie to the Fancy Flea, the show I am going to be a vendor at April 28th in Lakeland, Florida. My friend has a 32 ft. trailer, and we have 2 spaces, so I am bringing a lot of merchandise. Whatever I don't sell at the Flea I will take to my booth at Orange Tree.
Happy Creating!
Carol

This is a great transformation. I used to like country, and know, do not... so this is a great idea. I love that you show some of the blue through it...nice touch.

Sometimes it's hard to have vision when you see an item that is really dated, but your makeover is beautifully done!
ReplyDeletePerfection, Carol! I love it! So proud that you gave a new lease on life to a very country looking sign. Remember when that decor was so popular? What were we thinking? : )

ReplyDeleteFrom Country to Chic in your creative hands. This is beautiful. What is that gorgeous white gown hanging from the center hook? FF will be so lucky to have you with two booth spaces. Happy week ahead...

This looks sooo much better than the original. That sign is a form of country decor I used to refer to as cutesy...never my style. You certainly have a creative vision. Best wishes for trip to the Fancy Flea.

ReplyDeleteUGH. I guarantee that I had some old country signs from the 80s that I have gotten rid of over the years. I wish I still had them because your makeover looks great.
ReplyDeleteMy laundry sign should say, "HOT MESS" since it's also where I keep my crafts. I'm working on a better plan.

I know you won't have any
problem selling it!
You did it again Carol. I'd have a hard time even looking at the "before" version, but you turned it into a real treasure.
ReplyDeleteWish I could visit you! Simply gorgeous! I'm so glad you have a good market for your things. In Central Virginia, people seem to be a little tighter and you have to be at the right place at the right time to sell your creative pretties! Adorable! Laura
ReplyDeleteCarol, what a darling idea. I love everything about this little sign. I keep hoping some of your cleverness will rub off on me!
