Shopping The New York Garment District

Oh what fun this was!!

Shopping the Garment District in New York was so fabulous, it was almost overwhelming!

The first stop was "Mood".  This three floor fabric store is featured in the show "Project Runway"

This is "Swatch" the greeter at "Mood".  He just wanders the fabric aisles looking for love!

And he had a lot of aisles to wander....Look at all of this fabric.  Three floors with thousands of fabrics, floor to ceiling.

Here's my "Mood" Purchases.  I know, I should have gotten more, but I was paralyzed by so many choices

My next stop was B & J Fabrics they had tons of fun graphic fabrics

I got this fabric at B & J for my friend, he has a booth filled with midcentury, retro, and art deco...I can see a retro chair or stool covered in this....Jack, this ones for you!

This next store totally flipped me out I just stood with my mouth
 open....M & J Trimming

A wall of ribbons

Buttons

And lace trims

This is where I bought yards of lace, trims, and embellishments

I have a few projects in mind for these lovelies!

If you ever get anywhere near NY, you've got to shop the garment district...I Love New York!

Happy Creating!
Carol

  12. Ciao Carol che fortuna avere dei negozi così tanto riforniti, in Italia sono molto rari.... Se fossi entrata io in quel negozio ci avrei sicuramente speso tutto lo stipendio... Un grosso abbraccio

  13. Oh my gosh, I wouldn't have known where to start, Carol! I probably could have spent a day in each place. Love those trims you got. Are the fabrics arranged in any organized way or just different styles and patterns mixed in together?

  18. Hi, Carol, you sure brought home some lovely purchases!!! I'm afraid that I would be so overcome by the abundance that I would leave empty handed. Then get home and begin to think of all the lovelies I'd missed out on.
I know you'll be using all in amazing ways and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!!!

  20. If someone gave me money for a shopping trip anywhere in the world, I would go to Mood first! I love Project Runway and to think you actually went to see all that fabric. Drool. And then to all those other great stores. Drool. I love what you chose. Drool.

  39. Dearest Carol,

This looks similar to the greatest fabric and notions store on the west coast; Britex Fabrics where I've been several times at the time we frequently did consulting work in California. The volume of things to choose from is overwhelming!
    Love to you,
    Mariette
