I love paper dolls, I've been selling them for a couple years in my antiques booth
OK, I'm not being a bragger butt, I just want to give you a little history...Two years ago when I was a newbie blogger the editor of Romantic Homes Magazine left a comment on my blog that said "If you're ever interested in submitting something for the "Make it" section of The Romantic Homes Magazine, please contact me". I freaked out, it was 11pm and I barely slept that night. I thought.... what could I submit???
I had just finished framing some vintage paper dolls and thought...Why not, I'll submit this!
And four months later....I was published! What a kick that was!
So, I have been framing and selling paper dolls in my antiques booth ever since
Along the way I have learned a couple things. I found they sell better if they are under glass, my first ones weren't
I tried a lot of different adhesives and found the best way to adhere the fabric is with spray adhesive and, double sided scrap booking tape works best for the paper doll and clothes
Sorry, where was I......I price according to the size, frame, and subject matter. I priced this smaller one at $28
And the larger ones at $36
I think these would be so cute in a nursery or little girls bedroom or a great way to preserve paper dolls you played with as a child
My Moms name is Mary Lou so I made this one for her bedroom, do you see the name "Mary Lou" on the dress tabs
I guess we're never to old to play with paper dolls, I have so much fun making these, picking out the perfect outfits, and of course I dress them to make sure the outfit fits or....Maybe I'm just playing paper dolls?
The winner of The Eco Natural Soap give away by random Number Generator is Pam @ Our Adventures In Home Improvement...Congratulations!
Happy Creating!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this! Your framed paper dolls are exquisite. The frames are just right: a bit shabby chic, & nice in that cream color so they don't upstage the antiques. Thanks for sharing this with us, and congrats on being published!!
I love them, I'm doing this with mine!!!
Thanks for this idea- for me and my booth!! You're so creative! ♥
Carol - I just LOVE these!!! I like the paper doilies you used in the background on some...very nice and so shabby!!!
I will need to give this a try, hopefully if I find any paper dolls while I'm out junking! ;)

I've loved these since you showed them before, Carol! I see paper dolls all the time when I'm at antique malls and usually just smile at the happy memory. I used to love playing with paper dolls! This is such a great way to still play with them. I think these would look great in a little girl's room!
Could anything be any cuter? These are adorable!!
Those are super cute! I would like to see things like that come back into style. It seems with all the childproof items we have now and the kid tough utensils, that kids don't learn to be careful with things anymore. And while it's convenient, I can't help but wonder if maybe we're doing our children a dis-service by making everything so child friendly. It's a rare thing now to see a 3 year old who can drink for a regular cup without spilling - but that used to be common place.
I love this idea! you are so creative. thanks for sharing all your ideas and tips. i love your site.

I just love these and how wonderful to be published. I should make some of these for my doll room! congrats to Pam! And stay safe this week! We're getting some rain today and I hope that's all we get! Sweet hugs!
That is so sweet! And the first one has my name. I loved paper dolls and I always see them in antique stores. I pick them up and say...what would I do with them? Now I know.
Absolutely precious! I never wanted to play with dolls when I was a child, only cowboys and Indians! Now I want to play with dolls!
Have a super week!
This is so amazing! I love them! Now I will be looking for vintage paper dolls.
Carol, you always inspire me--I can tell that this is going to be one more project before Labor Day brings about the end of summer! Love it!

Oh I LOVE LOVE LOVE Paper Dolls, Auntie Carol... I have a set that I had shadow boxed in my sewing room. I don't know if you remember seeing them in my Post. Her name is Bunny Lou and she has Hair... I LOVE her to pieces.. And of course Romantic Homes would want you.. You are the official Miss fancy Pants... :)
Oh, I forgot to mention how Adorably Sweet Billie is... She wants to get into Romantic Homes to. :)
They are adorable. I loved paper dolls but unfortunately, I don't have even a one of them....such great memories of a simpler time!!
I can't believe how many of us still love paperdolls!! I've played with them and loved them my whole life (and I'm 60)!! I've got to make a few of these for my girlfriends. Thanks so much for being so creative and sharing!
Love this idea. I played with Paper Dolls too when I was little. Thanks for the inspiration.
Those are so cute!! Love your ideas!
Omigosh! Could those be any cuter?!?! What a clever idea it was to get those darling girls out of hiding in a box or a drawer and on display, where they can be enjoyed!
Billie is quite a character, isn't she?! I love that you post the pics in which she has made an unexpected appearance, in the same way that I love watching craft how-to videos on youtube in which you can hear the author's (instructor's? video uploader's?) children in the background - hehe!
Congratulations to Pam for winning the Eco Natural Soap giveaway!
xoxo
These are so cute, Carol. I love how you found another use for those "lacy" metal frames and vintage doilies. I'm not surprised that you were "published."
Playing with paper dolls was one of my most favourite things to do. Sitting quietly on my bedroom floor with a box of little cutouts imagining what it would be like if the dolly came to life. Thankyou for the memories. I adore what you have done with your paper dolls, they look so so pretty. Being published in Romantic Homes !!! WOW congrats. Come and pop in to my blog and say hello sometime xo
Months after I started following your blog, I looked through my collection of magazines, and I found that issue of Romantic Homes! It was a great article with fantastic pictures!
You have brightened this gal's tropical storm, dreary day. :)
Oh, Carol! How wonderful..and exciting for you! I wouldn't be able to sleep, either. It is clear that Romantic Homes spotted a shining star!
I am smitten with your darling dollies sitting pretty in their framed showcases. You have added so many precious details. Each one is special and stands alone in sweetness.

Blessings,
Carolynn xo

I remember your pretty framed paper dolls and saved the magazine! The little baby one is the cutest.
Warmly,
deb
AAHH, these are so cute! Love them! (This will date me, incredibly so, but I used to dive into McCall's magazine as soon as it came, so that I could cut out the paper dolls that were in there. I've always loved paper dolls. (My friend and I would spend hours in her treehouse, playing with them.)
These are so wonderful. Just as cute as can be and brings back sweet memories!
This is such a darling idea for a little girl's room! :D I used to love paper dolls, and when the girls were little, I'd cut out the Ann Estelle paper dolls from Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazine!
I remember that article... just didn't realize it was YOU!!! This is such a great idea.. alas I don't have any paper dolls.. certainly not from childhood (in the 1800's!!!!!!) Ha. I'll be on the lookout for some from now on.
I see paper dolls at the antique store all the time that are so cute, but I never know what to do with them. Thanks for the inspiration Carol! You have such cute things it's no wonder you were chosen to be in the magazine.
I love your framed paper dolls--they are adorable! I bet they sell well:) So cool they were in Romantic Homes!
These just tickle me Carol. I loved these so much when I was little. I love the idea of framing them..cute.
Oh these are fantastic!!! Im not surprised everyone loves them, you did a beautiful job and these dolls are too cute! :)
Hugs,

Oh, Carol, these are just darling. Now I have yet another project for the "Carol" file and a new item to search for at the estate sales! Thanks for posting this - i am always looking for a good use for the vintage frames that are piling up in my craft room.

Well, you should be a bragger butt. I think you deserve to be. I realized reading this that I have been around so long that I remembered the story. I have the perfect frames for something like this. I am keeping my eyes open for some wonderful paper dolls to play with.
Hope the plans are still going well! You're getting into the homestretch soon!
Cute Carol! I have some I have hoarded that I need to dig out and "do something" with. I love paperdolls too..my Gramma always gave us girls a new box or booklet of them at Christmas.
I love these...and the article that you wrote...AND that I won your giveaway of one of these wonderful creations! I just love it!!
So neat! I love the idea.
Oh I remember playing with paper dolls! Where in the world did you find them? I don't recall having ever seen them in the antique stores but, come to think of it, I don't know that I ever looked :/ My bad, huh? Absolutely adorable! If I can find some, I think I may make them for my young granddaughter.
This is the cutest thing EVER! I featured your framed paper doll on Friday Finds.
Wow, this brings back memories! We used to play with them for hours. I love how you display them, how wonderful they look!
Saw you featured at The North End Loft.
Debbie :)
