My Estate Sale Find, Creepy or Cool?

I am going to tell you the story about my estate sale find and then you can judge if she is creepy or cool.

I was so thrilled to find this bust of a sweet girl at an estate sale, I snapped her right up! I thought she would look so lovely in my home.

Then weird things started happening! Nothing bad, but I would find her wearing my hats.

Then annoying things like taking the remote control

And hogging the bathroom, come on!

But, then it started getting creepy, like the morning I rolled over in bed and there she was! 
Always with those eyes!

But, I thought calm down, she gets along with the cats and they're a good judge of character...Right?

Then she seriously upset me!  

I have seen enough movies about showers!

That was the last straw

She's for sale! 

 I'm wrestling with myself, I don't know if I have to tell the buyer her history.  It's not like I'm selling a house or anything where you have to disclose the history, right?

I'll put her for sale in my booth at Orange Tree and write on the tag, 
"This sweet little girl bust would look so lovely in your home"

"She has the most angelic eyes"  YIKKES!

Now, Lets just keep her history a little secret among my bloggy friends, OK? 

I hope she finds a new home SOON!

Transformations For my Antiques Booth

I've been busy stocking my booth at Orange Tree for the  Memorial Day sale.  This is one of our big sales of the year and I always do 25% off.

I found a couple old spools and fancied them up with graphics from Graphics Fairy, lace, and buttons.  I priced these at $7-$9

A couple of mirrored frames I filled with sheet music and printed graphics from Graphics Fairy 

(I saw this on a blog somewhere)

It is a great inexpensive way to fill frames.  I priced these at $12

Yes, I got on the book band wagon. 

 I thought I would give a couple a try..they sold.  Then I thought I would make some more.....They sold.  So, I made some more.  I sell them for $6-8 a piece and they are turning out to be a good seller.

I painted and added vintage jewels to a napkin holder.  HERE is a post on some I previously did.

I am always in need of pictures for my booth.  I paint the frames white and filled them with pictures I already had.

I showed you a glove box I altered HERE?  It already sold, so I made up another one.

I priced this at $19

I made this flower and I would be happy to show you how, if you are interested.  I know when I see a blog with yet another flower tutorial I go "Oh, not another one", but I always look!  So let me know, this one was easy!

Easy Clutch Purse Tutorial

This is the easiest tutorial for a clutch purse I have ever seen.  If you can sew a straight line you can make this!

 Maggie from Midwestern Sewing Girl  did a fabulous, easy, tutorial on making ruffled clutches.  You don't have to be a seamstress to make these, Maggie's directions are spot on!

I rustled up my vintage fabrics and had a ball making these.

This was made from a vintage bed cover.

 This one was made from a pillow case that had a hole in it, but the cross stitch portion was perfect. I ran a ruffle along the bottom...OHHH I love my new ruffler sewing foot!

These are large clutches that measure 12 X 8 when finished, they are much bigger than a cosmetic bag.

Here is one from a vintage table cloth

With a lace flower and rose button center.

Are you getting the gist of how fun these are to make?  They are velcro closing and you can line them with a corresponding fabric.

This was made with vintage pillow ticking and a graphic from Graphics Fairy that I printed onto fabric and attached to the clutch with thermo web, an iron on facing.

Here's the beauty of Maggies tutorial you can make this clutch any size you want. 

While I was putting the clutches in my booth at Orange Tree a college girl was there and said "Oh, I wish this was big enough for a computer" hello, I can do that.

I made a computer bag by enlarging the pattern.  I used a quilted fabric to give the computer a little cushion.

This seriously will take you less than an hour to make from start to finish, of course that does not include the time you will spend hemming and hawing over which fabrics, lace, and embellishments to use...... the fun part.

I priced the clutches at $15.00 and they are already selling.  

I see more clutches in my future!

Glass Tray transformation and Bloggers Lunch

I never pass up glass trays, these babies are just begging to be transformed

Oh yes, remember these?  I think they were from the 80's and went great with pineapple decor.

  Do you remember when pineapples were all the rage?  I had pineapple wallpaper and brown carpets!

Just be sure that the tray has screws or some way to remove the glass.  Some trays are sealed, then you would end up with an 80's tray you can't do anything with and you will probably have to get brown carpet.

I painted it heirloom white and added vintage fabric.  I didn't shabby it up, sometimes it is better to leave well enough alone.

I gave it a coat of heirloom white paint and added a french graphic (Thank You Graphics Fairy) that I printed onto pink satin fabric

Here you have it all spruced up!  

Both are in my booth at Orange Tree.

If you have not yet gotten together with local bloggers, you should!  It was soooo fun.  Shelley started the ball rolling with a post entitled "Calling all Central Florida Bloggers" and the rest is history.

It was instant bonding and friendship with people that love all the things you do.

We couldn't quit talking about every thrift store, antique store, and antique fair in our part of town.  What was and wasn't selling locally, blogs, and trends.  This was our first get together, but not our last!

Jewelry or Button Display Boards

This is a great inexpensive way to display your merchandise in your booth, online, or brick and mortar store.

Or to display your jewelry in your store or at home

Have you guessed what I used?  

The back of a picture frame.  You can find a picture frame at any thrift store for a dollar.  Toss out the frame and use the back.

Once again I copied fabric and then ran the paper through my printer and printed a graphic from Graphics Fairy

I Mod Podged  the paper on to the picture board

Then used my fingernail scissors to poke holes, through the board.

I used brads

And pushed them through the back of the board

I have always used vintage playing cards to display jewelry and buttons.  My 70's fondue fork makes the perfect holes.  

I use jewelry wire to attach buttons

So there you have it, ready for my booth at Orange Tree.  I think an attractive display always helps sell the product.

I just wanted to say thank you for making blogging so darn fun because I get feedback on the smallest of projects. 

 Everything I blog about is stuff I am doing anyway, then I stop and think...Would people find this helpful or interesting? 

 I am so often surprised that things I think are barely blog-worthy get the most interest!

For instance, the dress form I covered

I thought it turned out kind of cute and maybe people would be interested.  After I posted, Mod Podge Rocks put the link on their Face Book page and I had over 2000 hits to this little blog in about 4 hours!

Silly me, I went to the display store the next day to pick up a couple forms and the clerk looked at me like I had two heads.  I said "Let me guess, you're sold out"  He said "How did you know" so, I told him about the blog.  He said we have had people ordering them 10 and 20 at a time!  Hum, maybe I should have picked a couple up before I blogged about it LOL!  They'll will be back in stock in 2 weeks.

So, thank you!  You have so enriched my life, filled my head with ideas, and made me feel that the most mundane of projects were a really big deal!
