Adding Bling To Anything

It seems that when I add a little bling to anything, it sells...

I've had my antique booth for 9 years and have cultivated a lot of "regulars", or repeat customers. I love my regulars; they are the heart of my business and these folks LOVE bling

I spray my boring treasures with heirloom white paint, pick a little bling, and attach it with E-6000 glue

My boring treasure just got a lot less boring

Yep...a little paint and a little bling

Sometimes the touch of bling comes in the form of chandelier crystals

This candle sconce started pretty ho hum

But, with paint and vintage crystals...

...that "ho hum" didn't last.  These are especially good sellers around the holidays when people are in a really blingy mood

I priced these between $8-$18 and the candle opera at $22

Yep, I love to get my bling on...and my customers love it when I do!

Happy Creating!

  7. You always do it "just right". Beautiful transformations as usual. I almost picked up a little footstool with an embroidered top yesterday thinking about your blog and how spraying it with airloom paint would make it such a cute little thing to put in my booth. Then I put it down because I just have no confidence that it would come out like one of your projects - and this kind of style sort of clashes with the 50s-60s style I mainly focus on. Now I wish I had picked it up - it was only $2.99, ugh.

  16. Hi Carol,
I agree that bling does sell. But it also takes great ideas such as yours to sell too.
I love the way you embellish plain items and take them to all new heights. Very pretty.
I'm hoping to get my booth started with my sister the first of October. Half of her space is waiting for me to fill up but I've got to get this house in some kind of order to get started.

  17. You make it sound too easy: "A little white paint, a little bling". How about a LOT of talent, a LOT of vision, and a LOT of creativity?!

    Gorgeous pieces--all of them!

  18. Marda, you are so cute! I guess we of the "right on" generation have to practice saying "spot on", if we don't want to give away our ages!

  26. You have such a talent for adding just the right amount. I took the advice in a previous post, painted a candlestick holder white and added some of your "magic crystals" and it went to a good home at the Fancy Flea last year. I love all you do : )

PS if you need to e-mail me, just use the one you already have. I am so bad about checking all of my e-mail accounts.

  28. I went back to read the posts about the chandelier crystals and how you applied them. That is so cool! Never thought about adding that kind of bling even though I do have some antique lamps with crystals. Guess I'm just not wearing the rose-colored glasses to envision such things! Now, I've got to look around the house to see if I've got some things that are "blingless". I'm sure I do!! Thank you.
