I had so much fun making these hearts that I got a little carried away....Someone stop me!
I'm joining the 14 days of crafting going on at JoJo & Eloise
Please drop over and see all of the fabulous Valentine crafts
To make the hearts I used oven bake Sculpey clay...
....Rolled out thin. For the lace impression I used a rolling pin and rolled over the lace...
...Then cut out the heart with a cookie cutter
On some I used cute rose decals....The water slide decal tutorial is HERE.
These are really cute tied to gifts, jars, or candle sticks....Heck, I think these are cute enough to be a gift all by themselves
Yep, I got a little carried away!
I was having so much fun I didn't realize I'd made so many! So, if you are not the crafty type, the hearts can be purchased at The Polka Dot Closet
Have fun making these Hearts!
Happy Creating!
Carol

ReplyDeleteI love your hearts, Carol! I can see why you can't stop making them:) Now I want to rush right out and buy some of that clay, and I've been wanting to try waterslides, too. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh, my! These are exquisite! I haven't played with clay i a long while and know exactly what you mean. I hope you have a blessed day,
ReplyDeleteKathy
Your hearts are beautiful, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute bunch of hearts you have there!
ReplyDeleteLove your hearts, I want to get some transfer paper but never think of it until I need it ... wondering what you used to attached the tiny heart to the larger one I am not having much luck gluing clay to clay ?? Thx, Elaine
ReplyDeleteBingo, just the project I need. I have a small package of Sculpey that I wanted to try on a project and this is a great beginner one. Also hear so much about the water slide decals, but no idea how they worked. Double bonus today! Love these and thanks so much for a wonderful blog.

ReplyDeleteAnother lovely project - HOW do you think of all these clever sweet things? (Reluctant to comment, actually, since I mentioned you on my little unromantic blog earlier, lol).
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet hearts! I always remember the first time I came over and you sent me paperdolls! You have a generous heart and I always enjoy your blog very much! Thanks for sharing! I think these hearts would look cute on a Valentine's Day tree too!

P.S. - the wedding date is October 20, so now I don't need to try to do something with a "13"
Very sweet and I can see how easy it would be to make so many!
ReplyDeleteWarmly,
deb
you come up with the greatest ideas, carol:) i have to try these--tfs!
ReplyDeleteThe ones with the lace pattern are my favorites! I am seriously cleaning upstairs for my mom's stay next week, so I will not be running to town to buy some of the clay. BUT, it's going on my list of things to do!! Thanks for sharing!♥♫
ReplyDeleteI love your hearts! I had previously seen clay hearts and round decorations at gardenmama.typepad.com. She used Sculpey UltraLight, because it is much more pliable than regular Sculpey. She said she likes the porcelain look of the UltraLight, and the fact that she could get that look in a unbreakable form of Sculpy. It seems that I read that UltraLight is indeed ultra light as far as weight goes.
ReplyDeleteMy question since I have not used either type of Sculpey... Do you have any concerns about regular Sculpey being breakable? Is it fairly light in weight? What kind of "look" does the fired Sculpey have (re UltraLight looks like porcelain?) Certainly, your hearts look lovely from the photos, so I am assuming the texture and look is satisfying. If you have time to reply, I would love it. I can't get UltraLight around here, but Sculpey is easily available. I guess if I really want to know, I can order some Sculpey UltraLight as well as some Sculpey and compare them myself, eh?
Once again, I love your blog and your style. I am so glad to be following you!
LOVE THESE! I made some at Christmas with a wood grain stamp, but I love the idea of using lace... I'm adding these to my To-Do list :) Have an incredible week. xo

ReplyDeleteOH my your hearts are so sweet. It does seem like you got carried away, but in a good way. Now I'm going to have to give this a try.
ReplyDeletePerfect little gift tags that are part of the gift.
Definitely beautiful enough to be gifts in themselves! Thinking bridal shower with a vintage theme...these would be perfect keepsakes!
ReplyDeleteLove your tags--rolling the lace on them is an awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteSo sweeeet, perfect for so many things. Gift tags, tree ornaments, window hangers, napkin holders and on and on !

These are so gorgeous. I love your idea. Is the clay color you used a white or off white? I am going to have to try this. I have not been able to find lace wide enough with a nice design. Did you have to order lace? May I ask where you bought the lace?
ReplyDeleteIt's no wonder you got a little carried away, these are so sweet. I love pattern that was created with the lace. They look good enough to eat!!
ReplyDeleteThose are so stinkin cute Carol! I would get carried away too.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, these hearts are just darling. Love them and the details.
ReplyDeleteI can see they can be very addictive to create.
Thank you for the well wishes. I am a bit better from the flu but have pleurisy now. Just going to take some time to recoup. I am not good at that part though.
Have a great week.
Hugs, Celestina Marie
I love them!!!
ReplyDeleteI started recently to make hearts and little things using plaster but I really like the pattern created by lace doily...I'll try it!!
