This is an easy way to make a new dress form look old
It's one month until the dress form ball!
I'm busy getting my dress form ready and thought I would show you how I aged it
The kind people at Barr Display gave me this fabulous new dress form. They cost $69.99 plus shipping and you can order them HERE put item #8546 In the search box
This dress form is covered with a thin t shirt material that I sprayed with Walnut ink
Immediately after I finished spraying the form, I used a damp cloth and blended the walnut ink.
Then I sprayed the base with black paint, brushed on some white school glue, and painted over it with white paint, giving it a nice aged crackle finish
Now the fun part...Adding Graphics!
I printed graphics from Graphics Fairy and made some graphics of my own. I used the Blender pen method for transfer. Graphics Fairy has a wonderful post of 12 different transfer methods HERE and the blender pen tutorial is included in the list
I practiced by putting her name "BELLE" (As in "Belle of the ball") on the bottom of the back
Then added more Graphics to the front .........
....And I was DONE!
I took the finished form to Barr Display to show her off....Before and After. Barr Display has tons of dress forms, large and small. You can see their table table top dress forms I transformed HERE and HERE
I hope you are all getting your dress forms ready. We often speak "Blog talk", so let me explain. March 11th I'm having a dress form linky party. This is where I do a blog post about the ball and you can write a new blog post or use one you have previously written about your dress form. At the end of my post will be a spot for you to link your blog post. If you want to join, but have never linked up a post, you can email me (email button on the top left of my blog) anytime the week of the ball and I will link your post up for you. No one gets left out of this party!
OK, so who's coming to the dress form ball???
The Catering staff is all over me trying to get a head count!
Happy Creating!
Carol

ReplyDeleteHi, Carol!
ReplyDeleteCould you share the link of last year's DFBall? I attempted to find it here using a label but still can't locate it. I guess I want to see "if" I have anything "to wear" (I don't here in Manila). And I wanted to see all of last year's finery. So fun!

Wow, what an amazing transformation! I never would have guessed that Belle wasn't vintage if you hadn't shown us her before! I purchased a dress form a few months ago, and I have had so much fun with it!
ReplyDeleteCount me in <3

I love what you did here--you are so creative! I am yet to get a dressform--though I want one so bad! I will be checking out the ball for sure :)
ReplyDeleteShe is sure looking GOOD!!! Thank you for sharing her at my party.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
I would love to join in! I really like the way that you aged that form. It looks amazing! Should I grab your graphic, which by the way, is very cute, and add it to my sidebar until the event?
ReplyDeleteI love your new age(d) dress form. I might have to order one for myself. I dug out the dress form I want to take to the ball, but I have to confess she's a little more provacative than I remember. I need to tone down her femininity a little bit. Love the word transfers you used.
ReplyDeleteGenius idea!! It's lovely. Love the stencils you used.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job aging it.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the party! You did a fab job on aging yours.
ReplyDeleteI love how your dressform turned out. What a wonderful and amazing transformation!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I came over from Knick of Time and will be happy to join the Dress Form Ball.
Hugs,
Julia
