Aged To Perfection
It has been so fun to pick items from Barr Display to sell at the Fancy Flea November 2 (You can read about my partnership with Barr Display and the Fancy Flea HERE). I'm sure because of the versatility and inexpensive price, these baskets will be a huge hit at the Flea
Now, these baskets look great just as they are, but I wanted to see what they would look like if they were aged.
This was really easy...I dipped steal wool in apple cider vinegar and wiped it over the basket...That's it! I have no idea why it works, but it's magic, sit back and watch the basket age as it dries.
Now for the fun part. I had an old apple label I put on this basket
For the second basket after I aged it, I dry brushed it with white paint (You can see my post on how to dry brush HERE). For the "Fresh Eggs" label, I printed on Fabric (tutorial HERE) and used spray adhesive to attach it to the basket.
I took two images and merged them. The rooster was from Graphics Fairy and the Fresh eggs from Google free images. Then I smudged a little brown ink around the edges.
Yep, from perfectly new to perfectly aged

Hi Carol,
ReplyDeleteI imagine that you even create things in your sleep. When are HGTV or Public Television going to give you a show. Those people are sleeping on the job or they would be parked outside your door :)
I sometimes come over to visit and just go through your past posts. Every time I look I see something that I missed the first time.
You are a wonderful and generous teacher, thank you.
Connie :)
These are so neat! I know you are working like a busy bee getting ready! Enjoy your week my friend!

ReplyDeleteI love your aging of the baskets. Many years ago it was all the rage to take these baskets and sew a fabric liner inside and out with pockets for use as a picnic basket. I made many for gifts and wedding presents. Do I have one for myself...NO...not even any photos. Barr is very lucky to have your talents my dear!
ReplyDeleteAnother great tutorial!! Thanks Carol! Those turned out beautiful!I'm going to give it a try ;) .
