I love getting things checked off my list! Now that the Polka Dot Flea and the Haven Conference are behind me, I have turned my attention to some home projects.
First up....Cleaning the garage. After getting the whole garage clean I spent a day going through every bag and box of screws I own and organizing them all in this holder. I've had the holder about 5 years and never taken it out of the box, I think it was from Costco. It will make finding the hardware I need for a project soooo much easier......This was OCD at it's finest!
I also uncovered and set aside the projects I want to work on
It looks like a pretty motley crew now, but I have some big plans for all of these treasures
Then I turned my attention to my fabric closet....This is what it looked like 4 years ago when I had it all in order.....
.....This is what it had become!
I also cleaned my linen closet....How many sheets and towels does one person need? Between the garage, fabric, and linen closet, I've made 3 trips to the Goodwill!
Next on my list.....This is a big one! I want to repaint the living room and my newly remodeled kitchen
......And change the living room to a style similar to my Hollywood Regency bedroom I recently completed
This means getting rid of some of the fru fru, pink, and flowers.....Yikkes...I never thought I would do that, but I have had the same style for 11 years and it's time for a little change. I would never get rid of my white slip covers (They are so easy to clean) or the vintage look....I'm just changing it up a bit.
So...Just incase you thought I was kicking back for the summer.....Nope....I'm multitasking a ton of fun projects...I'll keep you posted!!!
What are you working on?
Happy Creating
Carol
You brought tears to my eyes. I see that you have a shelf in your project to do list, the one with the glass door and side shelves, that is exactly like one that my Mother-in-law had. She would keep her precious knick knacks in them. After she died one of her older sons got it and sold it at a yard sale. I wanted to kick his you know what. That was over 37 years ago. I don't think I have seen one since.
ReplyDeleteLOL..my studio looks like your "now" photo..I keep trying to organize but... I love the paint color ideas..it will look awesome!I'm going blue too, but a pale pale aqua. Can't wait to see the results!
ReplyDeleteCarol, Wow! You have been busy. I kinda feel like a slug compared to you.

Your upcoming projects look intriguing. I'm anxious to see what you do with the little china cabinet. I have three about this size. I'm with you on the changing tastes in decor. I have just gone through a bunch of decorating magazines from 2010 on and was astonished to find that almost nothing in them appealed to me today. I also couldn't find a single thrift store that would take them...into the recycle bin!
ReplyDeleteYou have a busy summer indeed, Carol. You have already accomplished a lot. I look forward to seeing your living room and kitchen after your remodeling. I am over my fru fru phase as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Can't wait to see the new living room...love the colors you are liking! My garage is always packed with stuff until the snow flies! Having another garage sale in Sept...My craft room is a total MESS!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is always something that needs attention!
warmly,

Carol you did a super job on the garage and I can't wait to see the kitchen painted. The colors you're leaning towards will be perfect with the cabinets and granit. I can't wait to see what you do with your treasures

Everything look great! Love the paint color choices!
ReplyDeleteMy husband has that same jar organizer thingy. Only thing is, he never hung it up anywhere so it's a bit awkward to use! But he did fill the jars....I'm sure it was a great feeling when you were done with that project! I really love that bedroom makeover, and the new kitchen! I even love your living room but I know what you mean about needing a change. I'm slowing changing our family room around (it's been pretty much the same for 10 years. The family is squawking about it but hey, what do they know?!

I'm looking forward to seeing the re modelling though I have to say you have a beautiful home just as it is!
ReplyDeleteOMG! If you get tired of your tasks at your house, come here! I don't paint, but am finally getting my hubby to paint our ugly bathroom! It has been this color almost since we moved in. (24 years ago?). Definitely time to redecorate!

I seems like we seem to always have To Do Lists!! I have one about a mile long now that i am Part Time but I have learned to slow down a bit and not try to move at the speed of light like i have been. LOVE your bedroom!! And I would far rather paint than cook any day!!

You sure have a whole lot of fun ahead of you. I'm drooling over your stash of potential in your garage, can't wait to see what you do with all of it. I need to set aside an entire year to deal with projects around the house, lol. Your updates will be gorgeous as always.
ReplyDeleteHi! Love your organization! Afraid mine doesn't look like that. Wish it did!! Nancy
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have lots of fun projects in the works, Carol! Something tells me you don't sit still for very long:) I just love your kitchen! One day I dream of having a nice white kitchen too!!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your energy!!! I've got a list of projects, but they just never seem to get done. Your garage wall organizer is looking good.
I also love your kitchen and the granite counter tops are so pretty. Be sure and show us your newly painted walls.

these are chores I try to tackle in the dead of winter..... I so dread it and put it off as long as I can....but once finished, it feels sooooo good! I am so jealous of your garage! xo
ReplyDeleteYou'd expect me to have fabric envy but I'm actually coveting your excellent tools :-)

Hi Carol, looks like a lot to keep you busy. Great treasures to work with. Love the paint color for your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteHave fun and enjoy the last of August.

Dear Carol, I'm always amazed by your energy ! One question, when you speak of painting your living room or your kitchen do you do them by yourself, or does your husband help you ? May be then I should ask you how to raise a man ! I'm the only one able to hold a brush or a screw at home ! Nevertheless congratulations, After you'll finish don't you mind come here in Paris and help me to finish my home ? I can understand you need changes : projects are the only thing which help us to stand up And, we cannot live all our life in the same decor.

Dear Sweet Carol, do you ever take a break? I think not.
ReplyDeleteAll of your plans sound wonderful and exciting. It is always amazing what a gallon of paint can do to a room. That and a few new pillow covers and rearranging things from room to room can give you a new home :) I love all the up coming projects in your garage. They look like a lot of fun. I think I remember you saying that you didn't have your booth anymore, is that right? You must just find and re-purpose for the Polka Dot Flea then. Here's wishing you a lovely weekend. Don't be climbing ladders without a friend there to spot you.
Have fun!
Connie :)
WoW! What a great purge you have had. The garage neat and organized will be so easy to work in. Love your decor style and with fresh new colors you will feel invigorated with Creative Bliss. Keepin Busy Dear...

ReplyDeleteI loved your bedroom project
and want to steal your lamp project sometime since I have the hat box
however like I said i'm not go with tools, just sewing
The new bedroom is darling. I like the vintage look. You really went to task on the garage. My compliments. Your fabric closet looks fabulous! I'll have to show your blog to my daughter. She's a sewing buff also, and she will love to see the ideas you have come up with. Very nice blog. Well thought out and effective.

If you are planning a solar system for your home, be sure to Play Bazar calculate your potential energy production using the amount of sun to expect in the cloudiest month. As winter sunlight is much lower than summer, you will want to be able to plan for higher energy costs in winter. If you generate excess energy during the summer, with the right plan, your utility company will send you a check!
