I love to transform serving trays from the 70's
I snap them up anytime I can, so sweet....But, not so trendy
I give them a coat of white paint and wax, then the fun part...
....Since it has a glass top you can use fabric, needlepoint, vintage material, paper, you can even use those vintage plastic tablecloths...

I'm not surprised that one was bought up quick, the paris them is so popular isn't it, what a beautiful tray!
ReplyDeleteI would have snatched it too!! So pretty.
ReplyDeleteNo surprise here! I would have snapped that up in a heartbeat!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. I love the soft pink script fabric as it really is the icing on the cake, as the tray definitely is appealing with the new coat of paint.

Love this, the tray is an eye catcher, no wonder it sold fast! Did you know that Aaron Brothers Art and Framing sells very large sheets of many types of paper that would work. I have just glanced at them but I saw the Paris type, french and old map paper...as two examples. This reminded me to go back there to get some!

Your tray is so pretty. I really like the fabric you used for the center and the vignette you set up. Have a great day. Blessings Paula
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome example of trash to treasure. Another great job from a very talented lady :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Hi Carol. You did a fabulous job uncovering the real beauty of this tray! I've never heard of a wax to apply after painting...It sure is adorable, xo Pam
ReplyDeleteCarol Dear you certainly have the correct formula for "Orphaned to Paris Chic". Beautiful once again...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great transformation, no wonder it was snapped up so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you love to transform these Carol. You do a great job:)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm not at all surprised that it sold the first day! What an awesome transformation and a very reasonable price!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! How pleasing for you that it sold so quickly!

Hi Carol,
ReplyDeleteBetcha I never pass up those trays
again! This one is so pretty.

Do you keep the cross stitch and use it elsewhere? I have been pulling them out of frames and trays and making them into pillows or door hangers. Some are quite sweet but may need a bit of altering. (Like this one I would pull the words out and just use the girl.) Just wondering if you found some other fab use for them. And I do love the tray!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, Great transformation of the tray...love it.
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm going to reveal my ultra stupid side here. Did you remove the glass and put that under it? I think so but I need to ask.
ReplyDeleteI saw a tray similar to that at my re store today, but (pouting) they have gone up so much on their prices that it's no longer fun there. Guess it's garage sales from now on for moi.
Carol,
ReplyDeleteAnother great transformation, you really have taught me to look at things twice and see what they could be.
Sue
Carol, you truly are a creative *genius*!!! I am constantly mesmerized by the treasures you create out of the saddest-looking items. I lovelovelove your tray and am happy that it has found an appreciative home.♥
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty--I have one of those being lonely in the garage (actually it has a lot of other undone projects to keep it company) and now you are inspiring me to get busy and fix it up!
ReplyDeleteMore awesome cute. Who could resist? I adore your choice of fabric, no wonder it was snatched up the first day in your store.
ReplyDeleteCarol, my sister was here to help with some painting and I pulled up your blog to show her what you did for your son's wedding. An hour later she was still going through your whole site and taking notes! You cost me my helper!lol ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteNo wonder it sold: it's beautiful! Wow. Amazing transformation.

Hi Carol, It pleases me to no end . . .that you want to copy one of my ideas. I consider you the number one craft and redo expert. About my spice rack: I went to Wal-Mart and found shakers that had three size holes and a slider to close them all off, then had Steve build it accordingly. It is the best spice rack I've ever owned . . . customized to what we use most :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you post yours. I know that you'll put your own special touch to it.
Have a marvelous weekend.

Hi, Carol, thanks for your comment to my email.
ReplyDeleteIt was a no-reply email so I'm just
leaving this note here. This time
there was an anonymous note attached
to it, something written in Arabic.
Just thought I'd better give you a heads-up. I can't delete it without deleting your note.
Hugs, maki

Very pretty! I'll have to keep an eye out for those too. I am sometimes amazed at estate sales at what other people buy.(She got up at 5am, stood in line for an hour or more and bought THAT?)LOL..I am sure some people think the same of some of my "finds"..wtheck? Fab upcycle!
ReplyDeleteSo let me see -- HOW many of those have I walked by and sniffed at???? Great job Carol -- love the fabric too!
ReplyDeleteso very pretty! I do adore all things with Miss Eiffel it seems.
ReplyDeleteWax? Why wax after paint? Is that Bees wax?
Love your creations.
Your Items always turn out so lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour an inspiration
I love the tray for sure I would of picked it up fast also, had a good price. I like finding jewelry boxes among other goodies. Isn't it fun to go hunting for all these goodies? Hugs...Lu
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your tray!
ReplyDeleteYou are like me.... I always see things the way they can be.... not the way they are. I usually go thrifting by myself but when I take someone with me... they constantly ask me "what are you going to do with THAT!".
I look forward to your DYI posts. They are always wonderful. So many great ideas.
Will visit again soon.
Elizabeth
How pretty! I never know what to look like. Thanks for showing the before and what can be done to make it stylish! I would love to visit your shop some time! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty...that poor cross stitch someone worked hard on. lol
ReplyDeleteCarol, that fabric is gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing the link. I just might have to have some. I can understand your love of transforming trays. They are quick easy projects and we get instant gratification.
