Layered Lace And Fabric Covered Lamp Shade

The reason we rent space in an antiques mall is to sell our wares, right?
Then, why is it when the mall calls to say "You sold all 3 of your lamps today, " I go "...Oh, NO"

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to have sales! I just didn't have any lamps ready to bring in today and having a dark booth isn't good for sales

Here's what I dug out:  Two perfectly boring lamps in need of a very quick make over

I covered the shades of this lamp with a sweet rose fabric...

...and added a little hanging bling from the center

The second lamp I layered lace over the shade...

...using spray adhesive and Fabri-Tac

Two simple and fast make overs

I brought them both into my booth at Orange Tree.  The double lamp I priced at $32 and the lace covered one at $28

Let there be light!
Especially for my dear friends in the path of Sandy...Stay safe!

Happy Creating
Carol

I feel with you. I'm happy to sell too (really happy!) but sometimes you just are getting behind.
Although thumbs up for selling fast and easy ;)

  3. I love popping into your blog to get a dose of Victoria-style beauty. As much as I love MCM, your lovely romantic presentations makes me happy in a little-girl-and-with-her-tea-party way :-)

  8. Hi Carol, everything you touch turns from rust to pure gold. These are beautiful. I also noticed a pretty little pink hat on the dresser top. Was take one of your projects, too?
It is always a pleasure to visiting and see what you are up to.
    Have a marvelous week . . .

  9. Gorgeous! I see the hat you bought from me in the background! (still love that hat!)That IS always how it goes..either your lighting sells and your booth becomes a dark cave or the furniture piece under everything sells. When I went in my booth last Monday she had just sold a cabinet that I had stacked 3-4 crates on top of and the crates and all that was inside was all (semi neatly) in a pile on the floor! That cabinet was there for 3 weeks with nothing on top of it and as soon as I loaded it up..bam! At least you are selling!

  13. I love these..I think I could do that. I'm going to do this, yes, yes, I am. I had 2 beautiful yellow rose lamps I recently found in am antique store just waiting for some shades. You know how rare it is to find a set. Sadly, I broke one the other day, before I even got to use it. Just heartbroken..Maybe I'll fix the shade like this to make myself fell better. Why am I telling you all of this? IDK..you seemed like someone who could feel my pain. lol

  17. One of the (many) things i like about your blog is that you share your products with us...that is so critical when I live in a rural area of Canada..even if I can't find it here, I can send for it if I know what it is...thanks to you, I do..
Very pretty lampshades, very partial to the 'lace" one and so easy!

  20. I know! Kathy and I have the same reaction. But we are done for now, closing the booth tomorrow.
    It's time for us.
Anyway, I like the lacy shade and boy that looked easy!
One month until your sons wedding!! Hard to believe it's here.
We need to do lunch soon...

  21. Hi Carol, Thanks for the lovely comment on my aprons. I think that we are both excited and interested in any new idea of re-purposing old items into new treasures. You are the Queen and I am just starting to see the possibilities. It is fun to go thrifting with a mindset on re-purposing. I love this new adventure :)

  22. They are so pretty...they'll probably sell right away, too!

  23. They are too lovely, of course. I have a hunch you'll be without light in the booth again all too soon.

I have some shades that need a makeover. I have it in my head to do something, but I keep procrastinating.

    Pathetic, aren't I?

Is your son in DC this week? As of last night, the daughter still had power. With all the rain, I'm grateful for that high ground called "the Hill"!

  27. Quick and clever thinking Carol. I'm sure these two will sell right away also. I think you need to hunt down some more lamps:-)

  28. Thank goodness you had some lamps stashed away and quick thinking on how to decorate! I've got some floral fabric almost, if not, exactly like what you used. I need to find me a lamp base ;)

  29. I have a funny feeling those lamps will sell right away and you'll be back to saying, "Oh, no"! Sandy passed by here with just a few branches down. Yay! ~ Maureen

  30. I loved both of those lamps Carol and then your transformation made them even more special. Hope son is fine. We are fine....even my son in N.J. is fine...except for so much damage. Not sure we will be able to make our trip up there this week. :(

  31. Carol, Only you could whip up something so adorable! Love all the lamps, exactly why they went sooooo fast! xo Pam

  32. So VERY pretty! Better look for some more...because I bet will sell fast too :)

  33. Dear Carol, you up-scaled so quickly and they are just beautiful!!! Maybe you should get some clip-on lights to keep your booth lighted as your pretty lamps sell so fast. Bet these two will also go in a hurry as well.
Now DON'T pretty up the clip-on. With your magic touch they would move to a new home just as quickly as the others!!!lol Thanks for always sharing with us, Maki
