Romantic Tussie Mussies

I Love Tussie Mussies

They look so pretty just laying on a vanity

These Tussie Mussies available

Tussie Mussies are most commonly thought of from the Victorian era

Tussie Mussie is actually a term used to describe a small bouquet of flowers with the stems wrapped in ribbon

Women often exchanged such bouquets with their friends and loved ones, and the tradition of carrying a tussie-mussie at a wedding arose in the 1800s.

Brides usually carried the ornamental bouquet in a silver or enameled cone, also known as a tussie-mussie

I love to day dream about spending just a day in the Victorian Era, of course I would bring a suitcase and load it up to bring back, oh what fun that would be!

What would you bring back in your suitcase from the Victorian Era?
Post cards, calling cards, lace, dressing table jars, or brushes, jewelry, dresses, men

Happy Dreaming

  1. Thanks Carol for you kind words on my post yesterday!! I agree, I need to take heart that with my linky party being what it is right now that I can get to say hi to everyone!
I appreciate your words of wisdom and encouragement. I'm enjoying your posts- I fashioned my wedding bouquet after a tussy mussie I'd seen in a magazine 19 years ago!

  3. Hi Carol,
These are so pretty. You must have a wonderful stash of laces, ribbons and pretties!
If I could go back to the Victorian era I would bring back vanity mirrors, little slipper chairs and tons of laces and linens.

  10. They are very pretty. When I worked in a floral shop as a floral designer, we still made them. I don't think they have every been "out of fashion." Yours are beautiful, Char

  14. Those are gorgeous! It looks like you've used whole doilies or large pieces, but I bet something similar could be made by sewing bits and bobs together... hmmm... I may have to try this.

I think I'd try and stuff Dante Gabriel Rosetti into the suitcase...

  16. Hi Carol, I never knew that is what those pretties were called. My Mom had a few of those. She was big into Victorian in her older home years ago. I love the tussies..

  18. Hey Carol! YOU had me cracking up over the comment you wrote on my blog! :) How you were feeling brave and decided to say how you felt! lol :) I actually hesitated about writing that post because I didn't want people to think I didn't want to visit their blogs..I just feel funny leaving 20 comments on a blog post if we're having a conversation. (I feel like people are going to think I'm crazy and hoarding the comments! lol) I think the bigger blogs are the ones that don't like the noreplythingy because they don't like taking the time to visit your blog, I just want to be able to talk to people more. :)
Your tussie mussies are gorgeous!!! I LOVE that era in time...oh so lovely! I think if I could go back to that era, I would bring back some of their beautiful lamps..my heart swoons over those gorgeous, prisms encrusted beauties! :) I think brooches, hat pins, hats and more would also be on my list. I would probably need a trunk..oh, I could just take one of those too! :)
Hope you have a beautiful day my friend!
    Missy :)
