Can You Tell a Bloggers Personality Just By Reading Their Blog?

In the months I have been blogging I've met so many people on line and feel like I have come to really know them, but do I?

Would they be the same if I met them in person?

I have blogs I love to visit and think
"I wish She was my neighbor"

Then there is blogs I love, but the people are not exactly my cup of tea

Now, that does not mean they are bad, just that we don't have a lot in common.

Today I met my first blog buddy in person

Deb, The Garage Sale Gal She is one of those bloggers that I wish was my neighbor.  She is from my home state Minnesota, so we had an instant online connection.  Deb and her charming husband came to Orlando for a vacation and stopped in at my antiques booth

I'm the one on the right...Wish I had fluffed my hair!

Deb has that wonderful midwest nice, she was calm and sweet, but more out going than her blog portrays her.

She brought me all sorts of beautiful gifts including a candy bar you can't get in Florida
A Nut Goodie, my favorite!! Thank You for everything!

Deb and I were talking about blogs and we agreed on what we thought the personalities of different bloggers were.

So what do you think?

Do you really know a bloggers personality even if you have never met them?

Have you ever met a fellow blogger in person, were they who you thought they would be?

I am going to leave you all to ponder this question
I am off to St. Augustine Florida, home of the Fountain of Youth (I am going to get myself a big gulp of that) and visit some friends, I will get back to you as soon as I return.

Carol

  1. Hi Carol, What fun to meet a fellow blogger! I have had an instant connection with the few bloggers I have met. I guess it is the love of junkin that we share. I can't wait to meet you on our next trip to Orlando. I am betting you are just as sweet as you seem from your blog.
    xo,

  3. Hi Carol, bloggers of AZ meet a couple times a year, so we are able to put faces (and bodies) with the blog. I like that and for the most part, find the blogger to be like the blog.
I don't know how you could hide yourself after posting for awhile. I think the me comes out after awhile.
Have a great trip and enjoy yourself, I am thinking you did give me something to ponder for quite some time, Char

  4. It's so nice that you got to see a blogger buddy! I have a few that I would loooove to meet. As for personality, I think it may be similar to real life - my work personality is a bit tweaked from my church personality from my home with family personality from out with friends personality, etc. People are often a little surprised when they see another side of me. My blog personality is most like my church personality - safe. I don't feel that I am being fake with any of my sides, maybe its just a Gemini thing?

  5. This Spring/Summer I will meet one of my fellow bloggers who lives quite close part time. I just know she will be as wonderful in person as she is in virtuality. So happy you are off to drink from the famous fountain and enjoy friends.

  6. I have never met a fellow blogger, but there are some that I would love to meet. I think, with some people, you can see their personality through their blog. Others, maybe not so much. A perfect example of personality shining through their blogs...Debbie of Debbiedoos.

  7. Funny, I almost wrote this in my post today Carol...but I skipped this part, so I am glad you did. That for me would be would be a YES. I feel I am very good judge of character, and if I like you here, I will like you in person....that may not be true for some, but for me, I know it would be. So guess what, you are lucky, I would really like you in person! XO
How cool you got to meet a blogging friend.

  8. Hi Carol, you will have to be sure to let me know how it went. I think the biggest surprise I ever received from was seeing a young picture on the blog and seeing someone older. Other than that, it was all good. Be safe and have a great time, Char

  9. I really try not to judge people through this medium. Some people their personalities do not shine until you really get to know them in person. Some people are timid on line but very outgoing in person. Others are very outgoing on line but very shy in person. As the old saying goes, you can never judge a book by its cover, or to update it, a person by her blog!

  10. Your right. Bloggers I read feel like friends. Sometimes they are a cooking friend, sometimes a fellow mall dealer, sometimes a daughter or a grandmother or a mother.

  11. It's fun to meet bloggers in person~ sometimes it's hard for me to recognize people immediately as I've only seen a few photos! But I always enjoy connecting a real person with a blog! Great photo of you and Deb! We have met a few times and she is a real sweetie!

  12. It's so fun to actually meet someone in person. I sure would love to meet you! I've met a couple of bloggers/SLS friends at the retreat last year. What I found was that they were way nicer in person and I enjoy their blogs even more! Hope you're having a nice trip!

    Hugs,

  13. LOL ... well I got to visit with Lynn from The Vintage Nest and she is even better in person !
I have met another very well known blogger and oh my. I met a number of ladies at the Petticoats and Parasols event in Savannah and only two turned out to be ummmmmm ... not my cup of tea and I'm sure they felt the same way about me. But then not everyone is going to like you and that is okay with me. As Popeye says "I am what I am and that's all that I yam !" (())

  14. You left a message for "Sandi" on my blog about priming the mirror. I just wanted to give you the heads up.

    I'm not her.
    "
Sandi, Hi, thanks for stopping by. The mirror trays just need a good washing and then I use a spray primer before I spray paint them. Easy, easy! Carol"

  16. I have met three blogger friends in "real life" and all three were as lovely as they were on their blogs. Three very different ladies but each exactly as I thought they would be. It is a real pleasure meeting fellow bloggers. I hope to meet many more.

  18. Carol~I've no doubt that you and I would get along splendidly. We've both got such a passion for creating. I've wanted to have a blog crafting party/luncheon at my home to meet blogettes from my area...I just may do so.

    Sweet wishes,

  19. I went to a blogging event and it was small and I looked forward to meeting other bloggers. One of them I had even been a guest post. When I acted excited to meet her she acted like so what and so did her friend. Some were nice people but most of them were cliquish. I don't want to say where I met these bloggers but I was a bit disappointed. Maybe it was just my perception, who knows. There are many bloggers that live away from me that I'd love to meet cause they have great writing personalities.
