Pillows made with T shirt Transfer Paper

Just a couple tips for using T shirt transfer paper.

Transfer sheets cost about $1 each so, when I make mistakes, ouch!  The most common mistake I make is not flipping the graphics on my computer before I print.....I bet I am not alone!

This is how the graphics are supposed to look when you print them off your computer, the lettering is backwards.

Not like this...... that cost me $1.  I wonder how many times I am going to repeat this mistake??

Her is my other tip, transfers are great for graphics that are contained, when you have letters and a lot of space between the letters you see the transfer paper on the fabric, not horrible, but maybe not what you wanted.

Look close, I increased the contrast of the picture so you could see the transfer out around the letters.

Here's another example, where I did not cut close enough to the graphic, you can see the transfer paper out around the graphic.

Cut as close as you can to the graphic, then iron it on your fabric, it's so easy.

I always have pillows in my booth, they are not a huge, hot, seller, but they do sell, and I like the way they look in my booth.

This was my first attempt at pocket pillows, they were a lot of fun to make

All of the graphics were from Graphics Fairy

The most I can charge for pillows in my booth is $20 for really fancy ones, and $10 for a basic no frills pillow, so they are not a huge source of revenue once I add in my sweat equity.

They are so fun to make though, you can't put a price on that.

I'm looking forward to cooking Easter dinner for family and friends, my baby boy is in DC and I will miss him

I'm wish you a blessed Easter, a celebration of everlasting life, a time to renew friendships, make new ones, and enjoy time with family and friends.

Thank you for your friendships, they have enriched my life!

Carol

  1. These look great. Thanks for sharing all the tips. I was looking at transparency paper today. It's about $1.00 a piece too - OUCH! I was trying to debate if it is worth it for some projects where I want a larger transparency. I hope you have a blessed Easter!

  3. I don't understand why these pillows would be a poor seller when people will drop the same amount of money on a bland, no personality pillow from a box store....no imagination!! I love your pillows.

  8. Carol ~ your pillows are so pretty! This is something that I haven't tried. I can sew, but haven't done so in quite some time. By the way, I just LOVED your comment on my Royal Wedding post. I commented back and added a footnote to my post under the invitation. You made my day! (*_*)

  9. Fantastic pillows!!

Can't you still use the backwards graphics ~ at least cut around the parts that don't have lettering and use them for something!

    Happy Easter!

  13. Hi Carol,
I love your pillow creations especially the pocket pillows. Yes, I've made the same mistakes with iron on transfers! LOL!

I have to sell most of my pillows around $20. Buyers just can't appreciate the work and creativity that goes into them. But, I love making them and how they look in the booth too.

Happy Easter to you to Carol. I feel that knowing you has definitely enriched my life.

    Big hugs

  21. Love them...and I like having pillows too because they add a softness with all the hard goods. My best sellers are Holly Hobbie pillows, have found and sold about 12 of them and also shaped ones (cats, dogs, mice etc.).
Wishing you a very blessed Easter.

  22. Hi Carol,
Love your pocket pillows, can't believe this is your first try, they are perfect. I have moved my booth to another place, hope it does better than my other one. Nice for a change. Read your comment on Roselles blog where you have lost 21 lbs on WW. I am on it also and so far just 6 lbs. But it is only my second week. Whats your secret?
    Have a lovely Easter.

I loved learning about the decal film and definitely have to try some of that. Thank you for sharing your ideas. I will be posting soon about the revamped chandeliers I wrote you about and will post pictures soon. I will be sure to send you a note when I do.

  26. Hi Carol, I have to admit, I have never tried this. Transfering an image onto fabric is something that so far, I have been able to stay away from. But, having said that, I know the time is near when I will have to take that first step. Thanks for all the great tips. I will keep them buried in the back of my mind. Have a wonderful Easter weekend, Char

  27. Carol, I don't know how you do it...making all the stuff for your booth and keeping up with the website too. I spend at least two days on the road every week, another day painting, etc, and then listing, photos, editing... I need about 48 hours in the day. Your pillows are charming and the pocket ones especially. I have decided I will not undersell my items anymore. Have a fabulous week. I am off to the shop this morning and tomorrow for redo. Sales were good over Easter. xoxo
