Christmas Altered Books

I made up a couple Christmas altered books for my booth at Orange Tree.  Here is the whole altered book tutorial.  The only thing I did different was used rubber stamps with holiday words and of course holiday ornaments.

I didn't realize my salt shaker snowmen were peeking around the books as I took pictures!

I put Christmas items in my booth right after Halloween

One thing I keep my eyes open for all year are vintage hymnals

Because.... Every hymnal has Christmas music!

These hymnals are pretty easy to find at thrift stores and could be used on lots of different craft projects.

I'm not sure if the snowmen peeking around the books is cute or creepy!

So kids, that's my tip for the day....... Keep your eyes open now, for hymnals to do Christmas projects later!

You guy's are the BEST!

Happy Creating!

  9. Carol, your project turned out nicely. I love old or new hymnals. The newer ones can be stained to look old but the true old ones are great for projects like yours. I guess the snow people wanted to see what you're up to! They are really cute. My aunt who is 82 years does crafts and sells them at her open house event in Nov. so I want to show her your cuties. I know she will love them. Thanks for sharing.------Shannon

  12. Carol,
LOVE these Christmas Books!! What a great idea!! So pretty!!
I also love your salt shaker snowmen from the previous post! I saw them on Jane's site when she first posted them. Yours came out great. I have been on the look out for some shakers to do this with but haven't come across any as chance would have it. Did you use a styrofoam head or a clay one if i may ask?

    Hugs,
    Debbie

  22. So pretty! I would imagine they'll sell well. The snowmen peeking through have given me a laugh tonight, just so long as that "head" thing doesn't mysteriously show up! LOL

  24. Oh, wow, I see those old hymnals in yard sales all the time! Hmmm... this could be a use for my mom's old hymnal. I can't bring myself to throw it away but it's no use to me because I can't read music... and I love Christmas stuff! Thanks!

  27. I love this Carol! If you're in a pinch for hymnals, you could find some old hymnal pages on Etsy and attach them to an old regular book of the same size.
