Can't leave a comment, not getting comments, pages freezing? Here's the fix!

I thought you had all lost that loving feeling.  I wasn't getting many comments

If you are not getting many comments
If you can't leave a comment
If you are visiting a blog and the pages are freezing

Here's the problem and the fix

Blogger introduced a new feature for people who use the imbedded comment format (As opposed to those who have a pop up or full page comment boxes).  Everything got messed up and they have not yet been able to fix it.

Some people who comment with Internet Explorer (Not those using Safari or Firefox) on a post with imbedded format, are not able to comment.  If they search other pages in your blog the pages freeze

Here's the work around as they do not yet have a fix
Change your comments to "Pop up" or "Full Page".  Go to Dashboard>Settings>Comments> And change it

If you are unable to comment on a blog, let the blog owner know to change her settings to "Pop up" for comments.  I am sure many blogs have no idea this is going on as they are still receiving some comments from people that don't use Internet Explorer

Geez, it sure would have been nice of Blogger to let us know this was a problem!  I found it by searching forums

Have a great Day!

  9. The only problem I am having right now is that I am unable to save new blogs to my blog list ~ anyone else having this problem? I so hate it when blogger has issues :( So far no problems with commenting.

Hope your weekend has been good so far :)

  10. Thanks Miss Carol...I changed mine, I had full page instead of embedded {not imbedded} :) Have a great day, and thanks for letting people know this. What a pain it has been all week.

  11. Carol, it very clearly states on the comment page that the embedded comment form can not be used if you have Post Pages disabled. So they may want to consider that also, sugar. I've had no problem commenting this week with any I have visited. Always good idea to read the Blogger blog though. ;-)

  22. Thanks for confirming my suspicion that it was related to IE. (since I had no trouble from my phone/safari). I have download limitations with my ISP so rather than try and change my laptop browser, I'll just hope Blogger creates a fix soon and visit those I have trouble with from my phone in the meantime.

  25. Carol, Thanks for the heads up. I use Safari wo this one didn't get me but sounds like a problem I had a week or so ago. You were nice enough to let me know then.

Those forums make you want to pull hair and not your own.

Does any have the real scoop about follow by google friend going away and picnik going away?

Seems that the best way to keep up with buddies is by email feed.

Not sure if anyone has good info yet. Anyone out there keep us posted.
    Hugs,

  29. Yes Carol, I had tried to comment a few times without success. I was having the same problem over at my blog. I am offering a give away and people could not get into it. Hubby and I changed my comment to a pop up yesterday and voila, seems to be resolved. Hop over and see if my pink give away interests you.
    Hugs, Jann

  30. You are so kind to share. Loved your story about your son's science fair project. lol Shared with Jack. Girl, he originally needed 100+ bananas for his project. Mom stepped in and helped him figure out a better way. It was fun though. We bought a refractometer for measuring sugar. Maybe I need to start making my own wine now? lol

  31. Thank you SO MUCH for helping us out on this. I KNEW there was something wrong, because as you said, I wasn't getting any comments, so I knew my blog had a problem, but had no idea how to fix it. Another thing is people who have no email on their blogs, or a no-reply email--there's no way to let them know! I'll pass your post on to others for sure!! Thank you! ~Zuni

  37. Actually, it's not a Blogger issue but rather an issue with Internet Explorer. You see, a lot of Blog Hosts, including Blogger, are now including the new HTML5 coding and Internet Explorer sees it as an error. It's Microsoft who need to get their act together and get with the times. Firefox, Opera, Chrome all upgrade regularly so they recognise HTML5 coding hence no issues with them. When my blog is viewed in Internet Explorer, the footer completely disappears and people can't expand my 'Show All' blog lists. Why? IE sees the HTML5 coding as an error and won't load it. Yet, there are no issues with my blog when viewed through all other browsers. One of my friends even had trouble with her Followers gadget completely disappearing when using IE but it was there when she switched to Chrome. All of these things are Internet Explorer issues because it hasn't yet updated to read HTML5 coding properly. It's not Blogger's fault.
