A New Crafting Toy..The Melting Pot..And The Dress Form Winner!

I was snooping around the floral department at Jo-Ann Fabrics and stumbled on something called 

"The Melting Pot"


I love a new toy so, for $9.99.... Oh wait, minus my 40% off coupon, I had to try it 

I bought it when I was getting ready to make this Christmas wreath


And this rose wreath and it worked so well I thought I would share it with you


The "Melting Pot"


I gathered my flowers


Stuck a glue stick in, it took about 20 minutes to warm up and melt the glue into the reservoir 

Then I grabbed the wreath


And started, dipping and sticking, dipping, sticking.....


And dipping and sticking.   I got the same glue strings I get with the gun so, it was more like.... Dip, swirl, stick, dip, swirl, stick.

 It sure made quick work of both of these wreaths.  I loved that it was hands free, and I'm guessing I completed this in half the time it would have taken me with the glue gun.


  Is the "Melting Pot" for every project?  Nooooo, Just when I'm dipping and sticking a whole bunch of things.

I am so excited that so many of you plan to attend this years Ball!  This will be only the second linky party I have ever done (Last years ball was the first) and I'm hoping for a good turn out (So I don't look like a loser).   I'll keep reminding you.

    Years ago I tried one of those, Carol, but it was a mess. I think the heat in the old ones was too high because it would get to almost smoking stage as it melted. I do think it worked great for hands free stuff though. Yours looks a lot neater than my own did...and I think you just stuck the short glue sticks in the pot and they melted away with the old ones.

    I love it! I have never heard of this crafting tool but I am definitely going to keep my eyes open for one. I can already think of many project this could make much easier!

    Hello, I came to your blog by way of another blog and just love it. The tutorials are great. I printed out the flower making one--hope that Ok. Can't wait to try it.     Congrats to Wanda. She is such a sweetie and so happy that she won.
    Yes, I tried a melting pot some years ago. It was a different type and it did not go well as you had to purchase a special type of glue that looked like little pillows. I used it for awhile till it burned up!! LOL
    This one you found looks like a much better style. I might try it again. Sure would save setting down the glue gun every minute.

    Had to laugh when I read this, everything old is new again :) I've been making roses, roses, and more roses and after all the Christmas projects my low temp glue gun gave out, my high temp gun is too hot, so got out my old melting pot! I used this for years and years it's especially good for floral arrangements. Unfortunately, it wouldn't get hot enough to melt the glue. I bought a couple of new glue guns and was wondering if they still made the melting pots and/or if the old ones were not up to the new glues.

    Carol and ladies I am beside myself with surprise, I never win so I almost fell off my chair when I got the email saying I won..... Oh My Goodness, I still have a little tingling going on inside.     Oh yes I have that little melting pot and used it many years ago. Now it is in the bin left to age like fine wine. ;o) Amazing how much easier it makes the dipping and sticking process. Congratulations Wanda. I am looking forward to the Dress Form Ball...

    Where have I been? I don't think I've heard of this melting pot before today, and it's just what I need, too - LOL! Congratulations to Wanda for winning that dress form. I'll have to check out that source. Thanks for letting us know where we could get our own.

    I love Joanns! That melting pot looks really cool. The last time I was at Joanns was around Christmas and I was thrilled to find burlap in RED! (It's probably been around forever, but it was new to me! lol)
    Going to have to order one of those dress forms...they are too cute!

    What a busy time this is with travel to San Diego to await the birth of my son's first child. I'm using his laptop for the most part and trying to get caught up on my visits to special blogging pals.

    I am going to have to try your new glue stick method. I always seem to manage to burn myself and forget to turn it off. Maybe a change is due.

    Oh gosh I have three of them ! Love them because they make wreath making (and any thing else you need to use a lot of repetitive gluing on) so much quicker.

    Wow! I wish I'd had one of these when I made a rose wreath for Hubby's Steampunk Study. I'll have to look for one of these as glue guns are too big and clumsy for a lot of my doll stuff. Thanks for sharing!
