How To Cover A Lamp Shade With Lace

I'm back to my fluffy ways! 


When a friend gave me two wire lamp shades all I could think was .....Lace!


I first cut out panels of lace to cover small sections of the shade then used Fabri-Tac to adhere it.....


....And used clips while it dried


After the glue dried I trimmed close to the wire and then cut the next section, repeating the process of glueing panels...Does that make sense? 


Lace is a very forgiving, it can be layered over itself and you will not be able to see where the lace meets


I used a lace trim around the top and bottom, then rolled up the lace to make a flower, added a pearl to the center, and glued a couple strands of beads to hang down 



So there you have it another fluffy, shabby, girlie project.....I want to be rusty and industrial but,...I just can't help myself!  

I need to join a self help group..Shabby Anonymous?

I priced these at $18 each to sell at the Polka Dot Flea.


Just a little Polka Dot Flea update: Every vendor spot is filled and there is a waiting list.  There is also a waiting list for the waiting list!  I can hardly believe it!  Applications continue to come in everyday with people wanting to apply for the NEXT Polka Dot Flea!  Orlando so needed an indoor show.

   I'm excited, but nervous...Will the customers come...Have I done enough?  I won't know until June 7th!  Make me feel better...Are any of you local girls planning to attend...Anyone...Anyone (lol)!

    I can't believe how cheap you are selling those--they are beautiful! Years ago I used to make Victorian lampshades--satin--then lace--and fringe and all that. They were so much work but I loved the look back then. I love these so much more now!

    The shades are gorgeous and you have built it and I KNOW they will come because you have done a stunning job with all the little details. If I lived nearby it would already be inked in my planner!

    Honestly, if I saw that someplace while out shopping or in a home, I would immediately think of you. They are so YOU and so lovely!

    I just LOVE these!! Your timing could not be more perfect. A friend of mine just gave me all of her mother's doilies, tableclothes and lace. Who could part with them like that??? I was afraid to ask since I was the recipient!! This will be perfect to cut apart a lace tablecloth that has no sentimental value to me. I just couldn't do that to one of my grandmother's or mother's though. I have shared your flea info with my friend who lives in that area. If I could be there, I certainly would. I hope it will be over and above anything you could have imagined.

    Carol, the lampshades are darling! ( they will fly out the door at that price!) Oh my goodness, you make me want to pull out my glue gun and get creative! Thanks for sharing the "how to's " with us!

    been on a waiting list. but it was so worth it. you are going to be a huge success i think.... IF YOU HAVE IT....THEY WILL COME. youve got this. very happy for you. i know. the shabby bug just wont go away. tried my own self. its like an addiction...lol

    Dear Husband won't go for this - trying not to pout here ;) - but I had my Carol humble moment the past weekend: I put a silk navy blue ribbon on top and bottom front of our bedroom ceiling lamp shade.

    It changed the piece. Made it more striking and elegant and husband was quite pleased with the deed. Of course I started dreaming of a Monogram, or even polka dots in navy blue, but I'm not Carolish enough. Yet. One day...

    Carol - I know how you feel - I end up making more black stuff when I just want to work with lace and pearls. I do both but my house isn't lace and pearls...

    What I really like about these lampshades is the SHAPE OF THEM.... so darn lovely with the added lace too. I did the same thing on my bedroom lampshade and it turn out great. Somebody is going to be really happy with them. Just in case you run into the same wired lampshades give me a call because you just never know.


    Carol, you always do a wonderful job on anything you do. Your mind is always in a creative mode...lol
