I'm finally finished....My Hollywood Regency living/dining room reveal
It was a long process adding crown molding, painting, stenciling, re-upholstery, accessorizing, rearranging, and getting it just right!
I removed every speck of pink...No you didn't...Yes, I did! It is very calming. At night it sparkles with all of the mercury vase candles lit!
I have been asked in the past why I don't have window coverings. Since I have plantation shutters they don't really allow for drapes since they swing open wide and my personal preference is the clean look.
This area rug was the jumping point for the whole living room. This gorgeous area rug is from Shaw . I met the very kind folks from Shaw Flooring at the Haven blog conference I went to in July. I was in their booth and there....THERE it was....The rug I knew would be perfect! Shaw rugs are available at many big retailers.
You can see the tutorial I did on mirroring the side table HERE
The whole living room was fashioned around Billie and her gorgeous china blue eyes lol
Adding crown molding really helped finish the room...I wish I had added it years ago
LOOK CLOSE.....I stenciled the Cutting Edge "Flock Of Cranes" on the wall. They flew in the front door and trailed sporadically across the whole length of the entrance wall. It is very subtle and shimmers as the light catches it.....I wish you could see it in person.
The stencil was from Cutting Edge Stencil and painted with a silver metallic paint. Cutting Edge has so many unique stencils. Once I looked at the price of wallpapers... I ran....Not walked... to their webpage! For a fraction of the cost of wallpaper you can stencil any pattern, in any color. Take a look at the Cutting Edge Stencil I used in my Hollywood Regency bedroom redo HERE.
The wall paint is a beautiful grey blue color by Sherwin Williams
I found old Hollywood glam pictures on the internet
When they tore down the 1925 house across the street, this old heavy mirror was on the curb. It was old and spotted and the mirroring was missing in many spots......It was perfect. I added a plaster ornament above it.
Polka dot fabric was used as a backing in the china cabinet ...Tutorial HERE
So, there you have it....Finally...finished! The new seating arrangement makes the whole room look bigger, it is calm and relaxing and I am really happy with the final results.
I am slowly redoing my house in the Hollywood Regency style. You can see my:

Thank you for hanging in with me while I did this huge summer project......Happy Fall.....It's 90 degrees in Orlando today!
Happy Creating!
Carol
I was compensated with product from Shaw Flooring and Cutting Edge Stencil...The opinions are all mine
I have no curtains or drapes in my house either Carol and love it. After 16 years, I just recently installed blinds in the upstairs bedrooms, just for the sun. :) I adore what you did with your home....it's all you! And are you sure the glamour shots are not of you?? xo
ReplyDeleteI love it Carol but I never thought you'd get rid of all of the pink!

It's lovely, Carol. We have no window treatments in our house except the master bedroom. We didn't want anything to block our lake view. I love Billie...such a color inspiration!!! This room gives such a cool, serene feel, just right for Florida temperatures. Beautiful job. Now, relax and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteCarol, it's breathtakingly fresh, I love it all........

ReplyDeleteCarol Dear you have accomplished a marvelous transformation of your living spaces. Elegance and grace in complete glamour. All the little touches you do really adds the finishing touches. I LOVE your home! Creative Hollywood Bliss...
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, I had to look up Hollywood Regency but going from your images, I was associating it with the great Golden Age set designers and their eclectic Art Deco style combined with the white look made famous by Syrie Maugham in the late Twenties. You have achieved that definite visual link between the Regency period and the clean cool lines of the Arts and Craft Movement, Art Nouveau and Art Deco and I think you have made a beautiful job of combining all these styles. I understand that Hollywood Regency includes the very modern but my only problem would be the TV. We don't have one so it never comes into play but I think I would put it in a cabinet. That is a minor quibble though, the rest is breathtaking and I love the fact you have taken inspiration from your cat! All the very best from Normandy, Sue
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteYou have definitely nailed the Glam look. I love everything about your pretty living room. You did an amazing job!

I just love it, Carol! Light blue and white is my very favorite color combo, that shade you have on your walls is gorgeous. Love the white slipcovers, and of course your mercury glass and crystal bling. It all coordinates with Billie perfectly:) Oh, and I adore your ottoman, too!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great, Carol. So light and airy and just perfect for sweet Billie as well :). You've been very busy with all the changes and makeovers but it was worth it. Enjoy your new living room!
ReplyDeleteCarol, you did a fantastic job. Love the old Hollywood pictures and the softness of it all. Is that an old heater I spotted painted white? Looks like a transfer too, very pretty. Super crown molding which is not an easy job.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Carol, your room is gorgeous. I'm sure that the cool blues and silvers will make it seem even cooler during your hot Florida summers. My favorite is the kerosene heater table . . . that girlfriend is so unique . . . and I love unique. I agree about the crown molding. It is expensive, but there is nothing quite so charming as molding.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new decor it is wonderful . . . Great job!
Connie :)
Carol- I missed this earlier and I absolutely LOVE IT! Just gorgeous. I never thought you would lose the pink but I love your new soft blue. I am going to look up that color when I get to the store. That might be just what I am looking for-that soft blue/grey. You have done a GREAT job there. I love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in and leaving me a comment about the veterans, too. xo Diana

ReplyDeleteOh I like it also, your bedroom was over the top gorgeous I think.
I like the curbside mirror also it's the same shape I have from my grandmothers house.
IO like seeing all your creative hard work and your kitty cat
So pretty Carol!I wish I could have a white couch but with the pooches and the boys..not in the cards for me!
ReplyDeleteI love white furniture! But it's simply can't stay white in a house with little children, so I'm thinking about what to cover it with until my baby will grow up a little. I'm only TTC now, so I have at least 9 month to think) Though I hope it'll happen really fast as I've already found lots of helpful tips like these: http://rocketparents.com/7-ways-to-get-pregnant-faster/.
ReplyDeleteCarol, I am so far behind in reading my favorite blogs. Your room turned out beautifful and I love the new look. The wall color is so calm and pretty.
