Tussie Mussies and bed springs
Only Me... "Miss Fluffy" Would buy rusty bedsprings and then decided to fill them with lace and flowers
A while back I was at this big antique extravaganza and bought some old bed springs
I had no idea what I was going to do with them, I thought maybe something rusty and industrial....Who am I kidding, I can't help it, I'm just all about fluff!
So I made up some Tussie Mussies and added my fabric flower ...Tutorial HERE
Nothing better than a little rust and lace.....
.....And white roses
I thought with Mothers Day coming up I would put some in my booth at Orange Tree and a few in my online store The Polka Dot Closet
I don't know if you sense it or not, but all I do is play everyday and nothing makes a better play day than lace, flowers, and ribbon.
Happy Creating!
Carol

ReplyDeleteYES ! I can't say nothing but yes ! I wouldn't have thought that rust and lace should suit so nicely together a while before... I've always been lacy, but now I feel I'm changing to rust and lace that's to say more simplicity ? Wonder...
ReplyDeletexoxo from PARIS where we have a so wonderful day... till to morrow where winter is coming back.
Joëlle
I think you posted about these when you first bought them and wondered aloud what you would do with them.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE (really do love) your idea with the tussy mussies in them.
Lovely but...doesn't the rust come off on the lace?
ReplyDeleteOr do you do something 'secret' to it. to prevent it from spoiling your creations.
Sue
Those are lovely, I miss shopping at Orange Tree!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOSH this is awesome! I love love love these! My middle daughter is getting married soon and her shower is in May. Since she's having an outdoor wedding the shower will be a rustic theme. I'm making cone shaped holders from paper and filling them with caramel popcorn that I make and everyone loves. We are going to set the cones in a wicker basket but how cool would it be to have 6 or so of these to place in front of the basket to showcase them! Oh my gosh. Now I'm on a mad dash trying to figure out how I can get some of these! Oh my!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention how amazing you are! I would never miss one of your posts! You're just so very creative in a way that I just love! Thank you so much for sharing! Hugs, Carolyn
ReplyDeleteCarol you make my weird collections of stuff completely justified. Old bed springs.....clever girl ! They look fantastic holding your sweet Tussie Mussies.
ReplyDeleteI will be sure to show your creation to my husband who asked me why I was hanging on to many 'interesting' things when cleaning out our garage this week. He tried to throw out a 100 year old lampshade frame today while I wasn't looking. Didn't last long though because when he turned back around I had it back out of the dumpster and hanging proudly back up on the wall.
One mans trash is another mans treasure.
Hi Carol, this is a great idea. I love your tussie mussies. I have some old bed springs so thanks for the idea! Jean
ReplyDeleteThese are perfect for Mom's Day or how about a May Day gift? Love these! chris
ReplyDeleteI'm almost ready to start playing, need a new playmate? If it snows on the last day of school, I've decided I'm not going! And, I've got an old bed springs in the back yard that I had my SIL drag out of the basement. Now I think I'll teach him how to put on gloves and cut those babies apart! (He's a city boy-but, love him anyway). Your tussies are perfect for either May holiday!♥♫
ReplyDeleteThose are really pretty Carol. The colors are wonderful.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteOMG, Carol, these are beautiful! I went right over to the tutorial, because these will be perfect to take to our 5-year-old granddaughter for her dance recital. Last year's tussie-mussie was in a silver holder, and I was having a hard time thinking of something comparable yet not the same--this is it!! Thank you so much for the tutorial; the "melted" fabric gives an awesome look! Did you attach a "stem" on the ones in the tussie-mussie to keep it in place? Beautiful!! ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous idea! I love the rusty bed springs and pairing them with the lacey tussie mussies was simply genius.
ReplyDeletethese are so lovely, carol! not to mention how clever it is to use the springs as holders for them!

Well now, those worked out perfectly didn't they. Nothing like mixing textures for the biggest impact. You did very well with your rusty springs & gorgeous tussies. Hugs. tammy
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I have you on my facebook, so I catch up with this stuff. there are so cute! Yes, rust and lace go well together. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute! I had seen those old bed springs before and wondered "What the heck would you do with those".
ReplyDeleteWell, you did it spot on! Only you could make a silk purse out of that sow's ear.
Have a blessed Sunday. Ginger
I was feeling pretty proud of myself until I read your post and saw your photos. I made 2 different Tussie Mussie's today - my first every - to put on the neighbor's doors on May Day. I was going to make some more tomorrow. After seeing yours, I am feeling pretty inadequate. But, unless my neighbors are reading your blog, I guess they won't have any comparison so I should just keep at it.
ReplyDeleteYours are lovely.
Oh wow! These turned out gorgeous! xo
ReplyDeleteOlivia
What a wonderful use for old bed springs. I love the rust and the lace. It makes a perfect combo.
ReplyDeleteThose tussies are just lovely, and using the bedsprings as holders is just a fabulous idea!
ReplyDeleteAt Christmas I was looking for just three springs to make like Christmas trees with them....didn't see any anywhere, but I did find a full size bed spring at Rennigers so I bought it. A couple of weeks later I go and try to tear this thing apart...ended up having to buy bolt cutters to get it done which was all dang day! Well I got my three springs, and a total of EIGHTY!!! I had no idea even just looking at the bed spring there was that many springs in that bugger! Well I got so busy at Christmas I never did make the trees, and I have them all in a garbage can in the garage. I have several ideas of things to do with them, but just have to get the time. The durn thing is, is that I never even thought to go online and do a search for the just three I needed. And now I see you can find those buggers everywhere lol!
Well I just love what you have done with yours....just way durn cute! :)
Carol~and here I was thinkin' those springs were just a way to hold my french fries cones, lol.
ReplyDeleteThe white roses were the perfect finishing touch.
I've had such a wonderful time catching up.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
