I saw this dress at the thrift store for $4.00 and I thought it had good bones!
It had a cute back, with a tie at the top, it is a little hard to see.
I didn't want a dress I wanted a shirt and that was super simple to do!
I just cut it short and added a sheer lace Polka Dot Ruffle....There's the polka dots again!
I decided it was a little plain so I went through my bling boxes. I just love looking through all of these goodies!
I found the perfect vintage black pin
I thought it was so cute and then when my son saw it He said it looked like an old lady shirt!
Well I Am an old lady, but I don't want to look like one!
So, what do you think? Now you have to be honest! Usually everyone is so sweet on all of their blog comments and they say everything is wonderful and beautiful......We know everything isn't so, lets have honesty start right here!!! What do you really think? It was only a $4.00 investment, and I will still visit all of your blogs and leave nice comments and I will still call all of you my friends! This should be fun!

I do not think it looks like an old lady shirt at all. It looks wonderful and young and cool!

I loooovvvveeee it. I think it is oh so beautiful and classy and if you do not believe all of us...send it my way.

ps boys don't know
I think the white ruffle you added is darling...and honestly I like it better without the brooch. Much better as a shirt than a dress...
I think it is adorable, and quite honestly I can tell you my 30 yr. old daughter with a figure to die for would love it, too!!

I love it too! It looks young and stylish to me! OK Carol, I see your bling and you still have more than me but what a haul I made, huh? I still can't believe it! I probably won't see another rhinestone at a garage salefor at least 5 years!
Thanks for stopping by!
wow you are talented. Really impressed!
I am not sure how old this boy is but if he is under 20 then anyone over 30 is old!!!! You have done a smashing job with this...it looks very classy....just ignore him XXX
I think your shirt is cute and I love the dotted ruffle and the blingy pin. So cute.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a nice comment. I'm glad that I found out about you and I'll be back often.

The fact you could make these beautiful alterations, transforming the dress into a blouse with a whole new look to the neckline has me in awww.
Something I could never master with my glue gun, lol.
As far as the comment...I am curious to what constitutes making a blouse look young or old.
It was such a pleasure to have you stroll by for a visit and especially for leaving me with such a sweet comment. I always enjoy getting to know new friends. Feel free to drop by anytime, the kettle is always on.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
This is such a great idea! I might look at dresses on my next thrift store jaunt!
It is cute! and am sure you will look cute wearing it! Not an old lady's top. Wear it and be proud....
Smiles and Blessings,
Nancy
Hi Carol, I really liked what you said about everybody thinking everything is so wonderful and beautiful. I like honestly even if it HUrts.
I absolutely love what you did by adding the polka dot ruffle..... It looks fantastic and has that romantic look that I enjoy wearing so much. It's perfect Carol and I really like the material you used. but If you were doing this for me, I would of had you add the same material on the bottom to create length to the ankles. I like wearing long dresses and I especially like wearing long slips underneath just having enough showing a little bit. I wouldn't mind hiring you for my seamstress.
Enjoy your Day-
Definitely not an old lady shirt!! I love it-
Marietta
Honestly BLUNT I am!!! It is adorable! What a vision & creation ... now if I only had the BODY to go with it, I'd ask to borrow it ... chuckle!
Have a beautiful day ~

Classy, elegant and sassy. I say go for it. No old lady I know wears anything close to this! LOL

Your son sounds like my children. They are not shy in sharing their opinions. With that said, I think the blouse is very feminine - perhaps the broach is the key. I think the blouse would look great with a lovely strand of pearls!
Kathy
Hi Carol....your son has no fashion clue! No old lady shirt here...so cute...and ruffles are the in thing. This is great to link up to my party...:) Have a great weekend.
I think it is cute and is full of personality! Love your boxes of bling too!
NOT old lady! Besides, any old lady that could get away with that sleeveless top should wear it proudly. Very pretty.
Visiting from Debbie Doos.
Happy to see that you were #600...thanks so much...I sure did need something happy today! What age does your son consider OLD? I think it looks great and I think you have talent to be able to re-design it:) Hope you have an awesome weekend!
Blessings,
Linda
Followed you back from my blog. The remake came out great. I believe I have that very same vintage dress form!
I think it is way cute...I would totally wear it with jean...I wear everything with jeans. I am lovin' your boxes of bling!

Happy week-end!
Thanks for your visit to my blog and your kind compliments! I love the ruffles and bling. I think it's sweet and sassy! Love it! I've never thought of cutting a dress to make a top. I love that idea too! By the way when my new drapes came in, my son said they look like old people curtains. Whatever!
Its smart one, regardless of young and old age look, I think its great, very decent look... I like its back very much....
Thanks for stopping and your lovely remarks on my blog... I soon post the tutorial...

Carol you son doesn't know what he's talking about! I do not think it's old lady at all! I think you did a fabulous job with it and it looks chic! BTW, my children tell me what they think looks old lady too! Mostly I listen but sometimes I think they are wrong!
Hugs,
Jacalyn
Carol,
That bling is perfect for it!!
And the ruffle you added? Great idea!!
There is not one thing that says 'old lady blouse' to me.
It is young and chic!! I'd love to wear it!

I honestly think it is very cute. I love how you made a shirt out of a dress and only $4.
I love what you did with the dress, it really came out so cute!

Wow! I think this is terrific! What old lady would wear this? This says young and elegant, sophisticated but fun. Personality.(AND if an old lady did wear it, she'd have to be smoking hot, right?)
Well, considering that "old" to my own teenagers starts at about age 26, then I believe to yours,it may look "old"...
Now,Carol, I know I am a doddering old fool,at 36...but I think it's just lovely ;)
Hi Carol! I just love what you did with this!! Really creative! I really need to start thinking outside the box like this! Thanks so much for stopping by and following my blog! I've really enjoyed my visit to yours, too, and am looking forward to reading more! I am now a follower, too- so nice to make a new blogging friend!
Cute cute post and cute cute blouse dress! I wore these floral cloth shoes to that anniversary party last weekend and the young men (my nephews) all said something about them). The shoes are vintage. I have had them for 20 years now and I think have only worn them a few times since they are so distinct. After they made fun of them I was thinking better about wearing them again and then darned if I didn't see a pair almost like them in this very hip catalog yesterday....kind of like Anthropologie. hmph!
What a great idea to repurpose a dress! I have several in the closet I might have to work on! I think it is cute. Would love to see a picture of you wearing it!
Honestly? I'm thinking I need to be wearing that!!! Carol - SEW cute - LOVE LOVE LOVE the polka dot ruffle!!! So - I'll send you my address right now... LOL
GORGEOUS!!!!
:-D robelyn
The ruffle knocks the "old lady" right outta the park. LOVE IT! Katie in Texas.
Rock the shirt!
Old ladies are coming back. Love it, very ingenuious of you and for $4.00
