Fabric Flower Bridal Bouquet

When My future DIL was here for Christmas she told me about the latest trend in bridal bouquets for vintage themed weddings, I just had to try making one

Before I get started I want to thank you for your feed back on my New Years post,  "The meanest comment I received in 2011".  Your comments were hilarious!

So, the future DIL is planning a vintage themed wedding.  She reads my blog (Bonus points) and saw the fabric flowers I make being used in bridal bouquets

So we set off to get the supplies....an assortment of fabrics in her colors

We picked light weight polyester lining fabrics, laces, and tulle.  Then we went through my bling box and picked out an assortment of vintage pins.

I used a plastic flower holder from the craft store.  You could use a wooden dowel, but since I did not have one on hand I used part of a vintage hanger

I cut, hot glued, and pushed it through the holder

Then covered the handle with ribbon

I used a half styrofoam ball

And pinned fabric around it

Then removed the lace the holder came with and replaced it with antique tulle and hot glued the half ball on the holder

Time for some fun!  I made up 9 fabric flowers the tutorial is HERE
And pinned them on to get the placement right before hot glueing them in place

I filled in with antique and vintage laces and tulle then added 13 vintage rhinestone and pearl pins

We have no idea if the bouquet will work with her dress

But she might be able to use it somewhere in the wedding decor

The reception venue has a fireplace mantle where the DIL wants to display family wedding pictures

My Dad was 17 and Mom was 21 (Cougar) when they got married

Maybe this new trend will replace tussie mussies in our romantic decor

It would even be pretty next to my dress form in a milk glass vase

Since the wedding is in November my dress form will watch over this lovely bouquet until we decide its fate

UPDATE:  Here is the wedding, with the bridal bouquet
This project took many hours to complete, but who's counting when you're having fun!

Happy Creating!

so beautiful Carol ... and something that could be treasured for a very long time.
I've seen some made out of vintage jewelry, pieces from the brides family or just collected pins, earrings etc. Haven't attempted it yet...I think I like yours better.

That bouquet is gorgeous! My niece is getting married in October & I told her all about these brooch bouquets and offered to make one for her. I couldn't get her to bite though, she's just not into the vintage thing.

Oh Carol! This is superb! The bouquet isnt beautiful, its Godly!!! I could get married every week if I had a dress and stunning bouquet like that! SO going to try to monkey you! Then again, I tried the flowers, but I guess I have the wrong material, because they seem to burn rather than just curl! Yours are just...wow

Laughing at the cougar comment...

I love this. I hope one of my girls wants a vintage wedding. That would be right up my alley. I think the fabric hanger instead of the dowl is just plain perfect.

And my favorite shot is the one with the dress form and the bouquet in the vase.

This vicarious wedding planning is going to be fun for me. It sounds like your future DIL is a gal after your own heart!

Hi, first of all I have to say your bouquet is amazing! And how lovely your dil used it, must be a very proud moment :)
I'm planning on making one myself for my own wedding next year and have a couple of questions..
Roughly how much material will I need
How did you add the material in between the flowers (could it work with just flowers?)
And did you glue the pins down?
Tia and thank you for the tutorial, definitely the best I've found.

These are terrific ideas. You are very talented. My mother was like you. Unfortunately, most of her creativeness came from need. One item I remember her making was a coat for one of my younger sisters. Mom had a mink coat that she cut down to fit a kindergartner. Guess in her case necessity was the mother of invention. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
