Romantic Tablecloth Covered Stool

I was searching for just the right fabric to cover this stool and then I spotted an antique table cloth I had. I did not put the table cloth for sale because some of the lace had been repaired and it had a few minor pin holes in it, Eureka!  It was perfect for covering the stool!

The subject of this make over

The center of the table cloth was a perfect fit for the top of the stool.

I sewed down from each corner to make it slightly fitted.

Each corner hung down a little to far so when I sewed each corner seam, I had these little pieces left from the bottom of each corner.

I sewed these together and made a fluffy thing a ma jig which I put a vintage pin on and added to the front of the stool.

I put a pin on the back of the whole thingy in case someone would like to remove it.

So many of the vintage table cloths have center square patterns perfect for covering a stool or chair cushion.  This would be a perfect use for your not quite "Perfect" linen.

Yep, I was feeling pretty cleaver when I finished this.

I put it in my booth at Orange Tree for $32, I usually price my stools between $15-$28, I can always lower the price, but I really liked this.  Plus the table that won't sell really needs some company!

Happy Crafting
Carol

Hi Carol, you clever girl you! I just love this idea and it's a great way to salvage those less than perfect, but gorgeous pieces of linen.

It will sell right away for sure. My table hasn't sold either but still hoping for the best.

hugs

great idea Carol, You seem to make things so easy....me...I always try to do it the hard way and then get so frustrated. I am not seeing as many pretty linens as I used to. The pillowcases I would look for for my dresses, I am not seeing at all lately. It's a good thing I stockpiled. Nope....didn't get a Christmas tree up at all. The only tree in my house was the sweet one you made. LOL..In fact, it's still out. xoxo

I just love that tablecloth. Have you seen the tiered ruffled tablecloths? I am dying to get one. They are so pretty. They also have them for chairs and curtains. If you know how to make one please, please share..lol Here is a link so you see what I mean.

I was literally waiting all though this for an update on the notorious table.

I love the stool. You made my mind start zinging with possibilities as I read it. That's one of the top ten things I love about your blog. You make me consider possibilities.
