Stenciled Table

This stenciled table was not my original plan

I found this great little table at the thrift store

And originally painted it all heirloom white

I have seen some black and white showing up in blogland.  I really liked the way it looked and thought I would give it a try.  I stenciled on some black flowers.

When I finished it looked really great!
Then I saw a little area where the adhesive from the stencil had remained on the table.
I used a little solvent to remove the adhesive
And
I ended up removing the paint!!!
I think I said poop, or something like that!

So, I went back to square one, sanded the top off, and stenciled directly on the table.

I was in desperate need of a table in my booth and at this point I just did not want to spend the time repainting the top.

Hey.....it turned out O.K.!

I covered it with stain and clear wax

And I am going to put it in my booth at Orange Tree for $55

I really liked the, black stenciled on white, and will try it the next time I come across a table

But, for today....Well, this will have to do!

Happy Creating!

Carol

Oh Carol it is gorgeous as always! You have an unerring instinct when it comes to refurbishing something and making it exceed it previous possibilities!
I have been working on a couple of projects that were inspired by your posts and I hope to have something finished this week so I can post about it! Thanks so much for all the great ideas and detailed instructions that you so generous share with all of us. It is so appreciated Carol!

I like the "oops" of the stencil on the stained top! So many of my favorite projects come from me fixing one thing or another. I bet it will sell fast in the booth! Have a fabulous week! t. xoxooxxo

Perfect example of the cliche "when life gives you lemons make lemonade". Great piece!

I have a friend who works for Ashley Furniture. He claims that they do extensive research on "whats hot". According to them, brown furniture with tiffany blue and brown accents are "whats hot". Okay, this info had nothing to do with your post, LMAO. Sorry.

Carol, I have that same table sitting in my garage waiting to be painted. You've given me several ideas. Your posts are always so perfectly timed for me...do you read minds????

Hi Carol,
I've been saying more than a few choice words about a "simple" project that turned into a nightmare! I think your oops turned out really pretty. Love that table. It's just like the one I painted blue/green on the top.

It won't last long.

It's beautiful, Carol. I love the extra touch of keeping the edge of the table top the white color. Makes the top stenciled portion that much more eye popping - in a good way!

Cheers,

I laughed right out loud when you said, "I think I said POOP." You're so funny! I did like it black and white, but it looks wonderful with the plan B look too.

I like the white bottom with stained top on things anyway.

I like it both ways! I just painted a great little table all black, I wonder how it would look with white stenciled on black? You get my wheels turnin'. LOL!

hahahahaha, poop huh? I think I would have said something stronger and I am guessing you did too.
This is so pretty, I like the contrast of the white and wood stained, the stencil is icing on the cake. Love seeing your work. xo

Hi Carol:
Both versions are stunning. LOVE the distressing on the finished one. Blogger comments are giving me trouble the past two days. Not sure if this is my second comment you are receiving or not. Anyway, gorgeous, as usual!

I think your "oops" turned out to be a beautiful "yes." I like the natural wood finish on the top with the rest painted white.

Carol, I have the same table. I like how yours turned out. I wonder how to use the tiffany blue and brown on a table. That would be interesting.

Lol sorry about the comment. You see the world I live in. the only stripper I know is furniture stripper! Now I wonder what the Google bots are thinking!

It looks gorgeous just the way it turned out. I actually like it when a furniture piece has a story to it and this one is perfect.

Glad I found you through Debbiedoo's. Look forward to visiting.
