Electric Spray Painter For Casual Or Big Time Do It Yourselfers

I'm sooooo excited!  I found a paint sprayer that is inexpensive and easy to use...This is NOT a sponsored post!
This paint sprayer is going to save me tons of time and money!

I tried an electric paint sprayer a few years ago and it was a disaster, I had paint everywhere, and cleaning it was a nightmare!

I refinish tons of furniture for my antiques booth and now I'm doing a lot for the "Fancy Flea", a show I'm doing in April

I started Googling around and found Command Max

Here is some of what I had to paint last weekend

In 2 hours including drying time for primer and 2 coats of paint
I was done....Are you kidding me!!

Lets get to the good part...Command Max's website has this paint sprayer priced at $89.99 and with shipping it comes to $102.00...But Wait......I called the company and asked if there was any retail stores that stocked it, they said Ace Hardware, I called Ace and they ordered one in for $69.99!!!  Now, lets do the math, how many cans of spray paint is that at $5-$6 a can???

Clean up is a snap, you fill the canister with warm soapy water and spray it through.  Then wash these 3 pieces...DONE!

The instructions tell you to thin the paint.  To test if it is thin enough you run it through their viscosity gauge and time how long it takes

Don't panic, I did it one time and then I was able to gauge how thin the paint should be.  I added a few tablespoons of water to the paint and it worked just fine.  Us Diy folks hate to mess around with this stuff.

Here's a few details

There is minimal overspray, if you watch the video on their website, they show it being used on inside walls (I'm not so sure I would try that)

This is great for custom mixing your own paint colors.  I have never tried chalk paint, but I am sure it would work fine

I wouldn't use this if I had something small like a picture frame to paint, but if I had anything bigger, like a small table, it is sooo worth it!

The first time you use it, it will seem too powerful, but by the second time you use it, you will feel like you have just defeated the canned spray paint gods!

My coffee table went from this

To this in minutes

With a little distressing, a homemade plaster applique, and brown glaze

I wish this had been available years ago
It's perfect for the casual or big time furniture refinisher!

This company has no idea I exist, I'm just so excited I wanted to share it with you

Happy Creating!

Carol

Oh Auntie Carol this is FANTASTIC... I am needing one of these.... Oh wait go ahead and just add this to my Cabinet and other things I have been collecting... But then again It might just be better to buy one... :) I hope that Billie doesn't come in contact with this thing... LOL!!! This is sure going to make life much easier for you as you get ready for the Fancy Flea...

Oh!! It only took 2tbs of water..per filling of the canister..??

I quit painting furniture for my booth because I didn't want to take on the challenges of rollers, spray cans or brushes. This may change my mind completely! A sprayer that is easy to use and clean!! Wow! Thanks so much for sharing this! It may change my attitude about buying furniture and then repainting it.

Carol I don't have the same kind but I love my sprayer. They are so much better then cans of spray paint or brushing paint on. The paint lasts soooo much longer!

Great job on all your projects!

Carol - what type of paint did you use and what brand/type of brown glaze are you using? "Enquiry" minds must know!

I like how this expedites painting!

OMG! Love the pile of furniture you have - you've just inspired me to go out junking again! xo

I like you discovered a small inexpensive sprayer a couple of years ago. Got it out this year, was too afraid before and like you am in love with it now. I was wondering about the chalk paint but I think I will have a go. Good luck with the booth. Your area is in my list for visiting next 2013 when I come over there. Thanks once again for sharing.

Pamela asked about the paint and glaze I use. I use Valspar clear glaze and then squirt in a little craft paint of my choice to color it, I used a light brown on this piece. The paint is Heirloom white, I took the cap from the Rust-oleum heirloom white spray paint and had the paint department color match it

Thanks for your comment Carol, tried to send you a reply email but your email is coming up as the noreply-comment@blogger one. Thought I'd mention it in case you are not receiving other emails. And yes, I am so over oil-based paint!!
Love your paint sprayer, I can hear your excitement in your post, and am amazed at always that the transformation paint brings to a piece. Happy painting!

Thanks for sharing Carol, I don't get on too well with spray cans but maybe when I eventually get around to doing the furniture I have been collecting this may help!

Carol, Carol, Carol, you've helped so many people with this post. I don't paint nearly as much as you do, but at that price it may be worth the investment, anyway.

Hi Carol,
I've thought about getting a sprayer but I'm so afraid I'll make a mess in the yard! LOL!
I already make a mess in the garage and Mr. Sissie is ready to kill me.
I'm glad that you have found an easier way. Love that little table.

Carol, This is so exciting! I, too, tried the old electric sprayer, starts with "W" sprayer. What a waste of time and money. This one sound great. I could swing that and the clean up sounds great.
Thanks for sharing this info and I think they owe you big as does Barr Displays.

I love that I won't be painting everything within a 24 foot radius like I seem to do with a spray can!!! I must buy this. Thanks so much.

Thanks for stopping by Cottage and Creek, Carol. I want to buy a sprayer. My daughter got one last summer and I was amazed at how great it worked! I pass by so many great furniture pieces because I don't want to hand paint them. Thanks for the review. And remember to stop by my blog on Wednesday to enter my first giveaway! I'm looking forward to your dress form party and am already planning my theme. God bless and have a lovely day.

I really really want that! We had a Wagner years ago, but it just didn't hold up. It broke after a few uses.

I'm going to check at our Ace.

Carol, Thank You for the warm Welcome to the Dress Form Ball! The Vintage Mannequin Triplets enjoyed making their Blog Party Debut. I lucked out by scoring two of them during Goodwill Hunting forrays for a song... and the oldest & more expensive Dress Form was discovered whilst Junquing with the BFF and she fronted me the money for it since she could tell it was Love at first sight and I was so Jonesin' to own sweet Yvette & she was a decent price & 25% off!!! They have now become so popular that you don't find them nearly as often as you used to, or for a bargain, but there are still good deals to be had if you're patient enough... may you soon 'score' yours.

I really appreciate this information. I've been thinking of getting a sprayer, just can't figure out where to use it. Did you sand all that furniture before spraying? Thanks.

Thank you for the info! This is EXACTLY the kind of recommendation I was looking for! I paint with annie sloan chalk paint by hand all the time but now and then a client wants something done with latex paint to look more modern and I'm KILLING myself painting and rolling out with a foam roller! Not to mention the end result isn't as perfect as I'd like it.
