Did everyone survive the time change? I love having extra daylight, but would rather fall back than spring ahead!
It hasn't been very sunny here in the sunshine state this weekend, so I have not been able to get any big painting projects done, but did manage to get my gesso on!

I really like the old world finish of gesso

I sprayed the wood frames with Rust-Oleum Slate Blue and then brushed on a heavy coat of gesso (Available at all craft stores) and wiped it back off
I finished with a light sanding
I've tried using gesso on flat surfaces, but like it best on ornate wood

I usually use gesso on my canvases. Never tried it on anything else yet but have seen Rosemarys and now yours and they look so pretty. Does it look that different in person than painting it with a white paint?

I use gesso , but I use it on canvas when I paint paintings. I'm not as cfaty clever as you are.Thats why i come here. to see all your creations that I would never be able to do, I love them all!
I am so going to try this- I love Gesso but haven't done this on a frame. I have a few ornate frames that are GOLD and really need to be changed.

Your projects look terrific. We will soon be going back to normal time here. The daylight saving period goes very quickly.

I haven't tried gesso as of yet. I like the way it looks. Once I practice with the water slides then maybe I can hit the gesso.

Where do learn all this stuff? You just amaze me with your talent! I've seen this look but never would have guessed it was gesso! I have it but got it for a collage class I'm taking and I 've used on canvas but that's all....who knew? I am so glad I follow you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! BTW...they all look so pretty!
I have yet to use Gesso but am also inspired by Rosemary. You projects look fantastic--now I am inspired by you too!

Havent tried it but seeing it done by you, Im pretty sure I soon will! LOL Lovely work! I dont find the hour makes much difference for me, since I hardly sleep anyways! :)

Not only have I tried it I am going back for more!!! I absolutely love it and have 2 cement pieces I am dying to try it on.

Gesso what? I have never tried it, but I will for sure.
I have not tried using Gesso...maybe I should. Your wall hangings look great! Gotta try the graphics fairy too sometime. Wish I had another me so I could craft!

Hi Carol, I love the look. The slate blue behind is wonderful. I use to use gesso alot. Haven't used it in years. I need to try it. Sun is shining beautifully here today. I have a lamp base I would like to paint. Think I might work in the gardens between coats.

I love to paint on it as a base. It looks like you had to use a pretty dry brush for that effect. I love the look : )

I am Gesso illiterate. I am also probably the only person left standing that hasn't used chalk paint. I'm slow to join. I still miss my rotary phone!

I haven't tried gesso yet, and I have wanted to since reading posts about it in Blog Land. I love the way your pieces came out, and thanks for telling the exact color you started with. I would love to copy that, and it's easier to cheat off your paper when you give out all the answers.
Of course WHEN I'll get around to doing anything, I do not know. I barely have my St. Pat's stuff out.

I've never tried gesso in that way. The effect is wonderful, so I'll have to give it a shot.
