I have boxes of vintage table runners and doilies....And lace, oh my, it is spilling out of every box in my craft room. I have to start using it before my son sells it all at the BIG (estate) SALE for a quarter a box lol!
I am going to be a vendor at the Fancy Flea November 2 with Barr Display and we will have tons of dress forms at the show. We don't want the forms standing around naked so, I have been busy making scarves and altering jean jackets (I will show you the jackets on a future post) to dress them.
I took some of my lace and table runners and hand dyed them. The tan Rit dye turns some fabrics a great pinkish color.
This is a vintage table runner
That has hand appliqued lace from a vintage wedding dress
Here's another vintage table runner that I sewed in half lengthwise.....
.......and added lace
Here's a really fluffy one with 14" embroidered lace netting
I made a scarf like this for myself and when I wore it out one night people stopped me to ask where I got it......Al-righty then.....I might be on to something?
Here's all of the girls.....A little over dressed I think!
They are headed with their scarves to the Fancy Flea. Since these are loaded with my precious lace I'm going to price them at $25.
Look through your stash, pull out your vintage table runners and lace then have some fun!!
Happy Creating
Carol

They are all so beautiful, I love the vintage, so lovely, especially on the little french maniquins, so cool...Phyllis
Maravilhosos!
Amei!!
They are beautiful, oh my goodness I'm swooning. I would love to try this with some of my stash.
I would have asked you too!
Very pretty....I don't know if I could pull it off, but I do like them!
Very romantic and pretty, I am a fan of lace.
LOL- At least you didn't embarrass yourself by telling them you were wearing the remnants of some poor divorced bride's old wedding dress!;>) I think you should sell them as wraps- why the heck not? They are GORGEOUS!!!!
That is a great price, too! xo Diana
ps. Did you just call me CRAZY over on MY OWN blog? You know I can't respond cuz you are a No Reply blogger, right? That's alright -I will hunt you down and respond on YOUR blog...talk about crazy!!!!
Ok Carol, can I buy one? You can contact me, and ship it to my daughter in California (she's coming to visit me in two weeks)! I used to be a buyer for a high end fashion chain (I mean HIGH). Believe me you could add $100 to that! Sell them wholesale to boutiques if you have stashes of old lace! You can charge 3 X your price at wholesale! But charge me the $25 (advice free of charge!). Made in China junk would sell for more than $25! Your scarves are really beautiful, and you can get so much more (the higher price brings with it more prestige!). Go for it :)
What a great idea! Those are so pretty--can't have naked dressforms!
What a beautiful idea, these are sooo lovely and romantic.
What beautiful treasures! I bet they'll be gone in a flash.♥♫
My dear you are always "on to something" with your creative muse. These lacilicious scarves are beautiful and your price will have them flying out of your booth. Creative Bliss Dear...
Oh wow! You did it again Carol. These are stunning and so very creative of you.
Oh.My.Gosh! These are over the top gorgeous and I must dig in to my stash. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
OH Carol...you ARE onto something! These are really original and wonderful! They are going to sell quickly!
Ah, that lace with the falling stars! it's everywhere. How do I know? I have two yards of it on my table! Isn't it lovely? It looks just wonderful on those scarves, Carol. I'm beginning to think I should have bought more than two yards!
They're not overdressed! The scarves are fabulous! So feminine and romantic. Now I'll be on the loookout at Goodwill....Good luck on the show!
Your talent and imagination knows no bounds ... Beautiful work!! It's a delight to visit and see what's next ...
I love them, oo la la!
those are beautiful! I will have to start looking at lace & table cloths in a different light now lol!
Helen
Beautiful, Carol! I think you are on to something there! I love the lace you added. They have a wonderful romantic look to them.
Lovely! I think your price is very reasonable in this day and age! How nice to wear to a wedding-- or a bride to wear at rehearsal, etc.
These are just beautiful! I found a table runner last week; now I know what yo do with it.Thank you!
I love it! I don't think they are overdressed...maybe like me, just INDECISIVE. LOL!
I love the story of being stopped and asked about your scarf. Did you smile really big and tell them you made it?!
A young waitress at Waffle House asked me about my satchel purse I made from old clothes and a belt...and then she brought two others over to see it...
If I'd had a trunk full. I could of sold them all!
Have a great time with the Fancy Flea...your dress forms will be the best dressed forms there!
Pat
These are just lovely. I think they'd look great embellished with your fabric flowers. I'm a big fan of those too. Good luck at fancy flee, I wish I lived close enough to go.
Susan
These are amazingly gorgeous Miss Carol! I'm so glad I found you & your blog, I do so enjoy it & you! Best wishes at the market!
wow i like them und would wear them,too-they look really gorgeous!
For the market best wishes! Ines
I am just rolling in laughter at NanaDiane's comment! I made some similar last Christmas for the Fla store and they were out the door at $18, so no problem at $25. Now here is something to laugh at, a couple of them I wanted a thin lining in for warmth and the lace wasn't sheer. So I used a couple Vintage white Receiving Blankets! Perfect thickness for Fl.

Carol, my friend has a boutique in our little town, and she sells items she brings back from France on buying trips. She recently had something similar, and the selling price was $120. That's right. . .one hundred and twenty dollars. . .And not as pretty as yours are. You will sell these out!
WOW Carol, what a grand idea. They are gorgeous and priced perfect. You are going to sell out. I can see all kinds of possibilities with these, from wraps to curtain tie backs.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs!
I LOVE your creations! they are stunning..
The best compliment, when someone asks you where you got it from!
How small is this world.. I recognize some of your lace, I'm using the same.. all the way in Dubai.
I love your ideas.

Angela.

Oh woman you are SO CLEVER!!!! I will now look at my table runners and lace differently because I think these are simply fabulous!

Carol you are sooooo creative! These are gorgeous. I think you should bring lots to Fancy Flea because they will surely sell! They are so very pretty.

By golly, I do think you are on to something!! Those are really lovely. I think they will sell fast!
Wow is an understatement - these would sell at our "shabby" store in town for much more!
Great as usual,

Beautiful! I want one!!! Will you be doing mail order? ; )
So. . .RIT dye does well on lace? I was thinking of dyeing a petticoat can-can. Do you think it would work?
You make such beautiful things. The scarves are just gorgeus.
Have a great weekend
Hugs from here
So pretty! I have made some similar ones previously....I have bags and big blue totes of old lace that my husband grumbles about/questions the existence of..he better not sell them! My fav is the ruffle-y one.

I've been away at the huge antique show in Texas for almost two weeks, so I'm just now catching up. I love your lace/table runner scarves!! I bet you sell out of these quickly.
Wish I could make it to Florida for the Fancy Flea, but I'm guessing I'll just have to read about it!
Great creations!
Betsy
Oh my gosh Carol, where on earth did you find so many fabulous table runners? Love how you turned them into scarves! But must say, I would love at least one as a runner. I think they will fly out of your booth!
hugs,
Jann
Carol,
Absolutely love this idea!! So pretty!!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words about the Remodel! I am glad that it is over!!
Hugs,
Deb
Adore these! And a great way to use up those boxes and bins and drawers of lace. Mimi
You are definitely on to something. Just beautiful - and different!
These are great, Carol. They make quite the fashion statement. Very trendy.
OK, I love these, and I have to tell you that the previous post, which I am just now seeing, is AMAZING. I love what you did to those necklace holders. I just can't believe the things that your mind can design. It so interesting that in your former "life" you were in a sort of left brained business. You are sincerely the single most creative person I know.
And how are things in your neck of the woods these days?
You are a genius!! These are totally stunning. I love that you share your pricing strategy (price based on whether you like an item or not). Thank you so much for sharing your lovelies with us.
What a beautiful and creative idea, Carol! I never would have thought to repurpose table runners into gorgeous scarves! The laces you used are stunning. They will sell in a heartbeat!
What a fantastic idea. I love these. Will you be selling any to readers of your blog? Are you on Etsy or Ebay?
Thanks - take care!!!!
No compLACEant dress forms in the Polka Dot Closet! What lovelies they now display! Beautiful ideas, girl!
Kelley~
Gorgeous scarves and a great way to repurpose your lacy bits.
I know what you mean about supplies spilling out of the room. I keep telling myself not to buy anything more, but I don't listen.
I WANT ONE!!! I see you’re in Florida, which is a total bummer, because I will not be anywhere near that market. Will you ship? Let me know! E-mail address is unicorn@ (at) aol (dot) com. :-)
Carol, You better get busy and make lots of these scarves because they will sell out quickly! They are beautiful.
Hugs,
Sherry
Adorable idea.
Carol these are beautiful!! I just found this on Pinterest while looking for ideas of things to do with vintage linens . . . this is a new idea for me! Now I'm going to go digging through my stash - these would make great gifts too! I also just cut up my mom's lace curtains (she's rollin' in her grave I'm sure!) as they had these big, wide sections of lace that was just too pretty to send to GW!
