A Shabby Rose Stool

I had all intentions of covering this stool and selling it in my booth, but when I finished, I thought nope, it is staying right here!

Oh, look I got artsy, I tipped the camera and blurred the edges

It was just your standard $5.00 thrift store stool.

The first thing I did was went to my newly organized linen closet

If you had any thoughts of organizing your linen closet, don't put it off, do it now!  It is so fun to see all of the fabrics you have to choose from.

I decided to slip cover this one instead of upholster it because I was to lazy to paint the legs.  Just lay your fabric right side down over the stool and then pin it up the side and put a pin right at the top where you want the seam to end.

I pin it loosely and then sew the seam on the inside of the pins closest to the stool, this will get you a nice tight fit.  Then just sew the trim and skirt on.

I used a Mary Rose fabric for the top, vintage trim, and a vintage damask table cloth on the bottom.  It is hard to see, but the damask was a really light pink.

When I finished, I brought it in and sat it next to my covered white chair and thought....This baby is not going anywhere!

I love that it is a slip cover, I can take it off and throw it in the wash.....Cat hair!

Now, I have a deal with myself, if I bring something in I have to take something out. So, I am going to sell the stool that was originally in that spot.

So, which category do you fall into?

OCD - obsessively and compulsively need order and Hate clutter
or
Hoarder - You hate to get rid of anything you make

Can I be an OCDH? Just asking, I am a bit of it all? Cute stool, I would keep it too...and look so nice to open up your closet and see all those beautiful fabrics.

Carol,

You've outdone your self this time. This stool is so pretty and feminine. It looks like the kitty has claimed it for himself.

I'm neither a neat-freak nor a hoarder. I guess that makes me just lazy. Hahaha!

Have a great evening!

How cute is that? You did such a great job on it. Hmmm...I think I've been a little bit of everything over the years!

Thanks for sharing your stool. It's fun to see how you turned an average stool into something "wow"!

I would be keeping that stool too! About being OCD or a Hoarder. I think I am both, I change every day, though since the new year I am beginning to lean more to the OCD side. Your creations are always lovely.

I "fall" into both!!! LOL!!
Nice job on the stool. I really need to "DO" some sewing. I have my projects just piled on the sewing machine...

Cute stool! You make it look so easy! I had a whole bed emsemble of that rose fabric before I got married. It really loved it, then when I moved out and got something new my mom claimed it. I think that rose pattern is timeless! So pretty!

Your cat reminds me of mine. I had a black and white cat that looked like that. She died 2 years ago at the ancient age of 21.

I love your fabric choice for your stool, and if it were me, I'd have kept it too. Years ago, I painted this chest of drawers. Loved it when I finished but for some insane reason, I sold it. Ever since then, I wish I had kept it. If it means that much to you, you'll find other stool for your booth later.

Oh Carol, I would keep it too.....for a little while! LOL! I get tired of things really easily and after awhile I take them to the shop.
But that little stool might just remain at home because it is so dang cute.

I'm probably a hoarder but I like everything nice and neat. However, everything isn't nice and neat! I need to work on that.

The next time I see one of these ugly stools I'll be sure and pick it up and give it the "Carol" treatment.

I am a hard core hoarder. It's something I'm kind of working on, so we don't drown in things I should just be letting go.

Your kitty is so cute!

I love your little slipcovered stool Carol!! :)

I'm definitely OCD!! Clutter makes me stressed.

Nice job Carol! So pretty! I am usually a "clutter" person, but in this new year I am so inspired to cut the clutter out of my life...and believe me, I have a LOT of it. I took a trunkload of stuff to the thrift store today and have two huge boxes plus one entire wall length shelf in my office full of goodies to get listed. I'll be buried in here until spring! ~Stacy~ (*_*)

Carol: you have a gift! That is some makeover!!!
I am a hoarder of crafts and "things I will create with eventually" but I like things neat. I have been stuck in the house all week with a sick kiddo so I have been cleaning and chucking! I feel so much better! LOL

Well I can see why you wanted to keep it Carol it is indeed precious and looks great!
As to your question I am a mixture of a hoarder with OCD. I crave order but alas it eludes me.
I am the designated family "keeper of the old stuff", family photos, letters, etc. It's a nasty job but someone has to do it! :)
Have a lovely weekend and thanks again for all the inspiration!

IT IS BEAUTIFUL....I THINK IT WAS GOOD YOU PAINTED IT WHITE. I HAVE 3 CATS SO I KNOW HOW THEY HAVE TO TEST EVERYTHING AND MAKE IT THEIRS.
I JUST DROOLED OVER YOUR CLOSET OF MATERIAL. MY PARENTS BOUGHT ME A SEWING MACHINE FOR CHRISTMAS BUT I HAVE NOT OPENED THE BOX YET...I HAVE TO GET SOME MATERIAL AND THREAD AND THEN TEACH MYSELF...IT IS GOING TO BE FUNNY.

Carol, I don't blame you for wanting to keep that stool. It is adorable. Look at that fabric stash. I didn't know you were contacted by RH. That is so cool. Who knew those people were reading blogs!

Carol this stool is TOO cute to sell. I would keep it too! Right now I have an end table, kitchen table and 5 chairs piled in my dining room that I'm painting to sell..the chairs are staying (I couldn't resist their charm!) but I have to sell the old ones. My son said it looks like a warehouse. I need to get a grip on this or I'll be on Hoarders - Furniture edition!

I am more on the hoarder side of it now that I no longer have my shop, but I was good and did some major donating to make room for new treasures. Your foot stool is darling and it looks like someone else thinks so too.
