Storage Box Redo Gone Bad!!

Don't you hate when you have big plans for a redo and it goes Bad!

Here's the victim, a storage box that was used as a sewing box.

Oh Ya, I had big plans for this!

First I painted it Heirloom white

So far so good

Then I thought a good sanding will bring the blue out, and added some mocha glaze.

OH OH, I am not liking this, but I plunged on with my plan.

A French Graphic on top

I saw this graphics idea on a cute little pink table and thought it would be perfect.  Of course I don't know which of you creative bloggers had done the cute little pink table, but I would love to link you up.  I of course understand if you don't want to be associated with this mess!

I didn't paint the inside......To lazy!

Maybe if I put this fuzzy circle around it, it will look better?

I put it in my booth today for $24.00 maybe some crafty person will buy it and think, Oh I can make this box look really cute, I will scrape off the white paint and paint the legs black! LOL

I had a fabulous month for sales at the antique store, I did major restocking three times and sold just about everything

So tell me, where did I go wrong with the box?    You won't hurt my feelings, I think it is a red blue hot mess!

Carol
Nope, won't be linking this up to any parties!!

Well, I don't dislike it as much as you do. As a matter of fact, I bet it sells!

You are cracking me up !
I am thinking that if someone
likes blue then it would go
well with their decor ~~
Maybe you just aren't used to
seeing blue underneath ?

LMAO!!~ You know what that means now.
You went wrong with having BIG plans. Next time try little plans. Really it's not that bad..it's only a warm mess!XO

Well, I for one like it . . I may have painted it all black and then just painted the outside (not the legs) white and then antiqued it . ..

I do not understand why that one table does not sell!

Someone will take it one . . . . someday . . for now, just enjoy it!!

xxoo

Carol put some roses around the circle of that white table and maybe a few in the center to tie it together, the blue well put back on some white or add some cream and some filigree around the image in the center, paint the inside white or shabby it white, there is my take and at least it is a quickie! I would get rid of those legs and put some stubby feet on. I will be bold and say that the last brown layer made it look more dirty that distressed maybe? At least it looks that way on my monitor.
Other than that... lol You asked! BTW, I totally love your blog and how you share so freely so please know that I am just answering honestly because you asked.
Oh for the none selling table, how about laying a ruined lace or crocheted table cloth and spray painting a light ivory/pink over it. (Using the lace as a mask). I think it would be a beautiful accent.

I think the legs are too long. Maybe if you found old chunky ones? Or put bun feet on the bottom and make it a lower box.

Its not so bad I think its got character and I like how the wording on top blends in. I bet you it sells!

Well, guess what? I really like it..xx

Hi Carol, I like blue so I think it is kinda cute. If it was mine I would remove the legs and use it as a trunk.
Hugs,
Sherry

ok Carol, maybe it's the fuzzy white circle, but I think it's sweet! The graphics on it are wonderful, I hate painting the inside of things too, but you might like it more if you gave it a go. The real puzzle is why isn't that other sweet table sold yet? Congrats on a good month! Theresa xoxo

Well I like it ! except for the legs, I'd take them off too. But I think the paint job looks fine.
(())
PS One more month and I'm coming to get that round table !!!

Hi Carol,
I know what you're talking about....been there, done that!
None, for my two cents....I would remove those legs all together. The paint job isn't really all that bad and it will sell.
Don't worry about your table, I'm still stuck with mine too. It hasn't sold and I'm gettin discouraged. Oh well, maybe if we keep talking about them, they will sell.

big hugs,
Sissie

FUNNY! Honestly, I am with you and don't like the color either.
If it doesn't sell I would completely repaint it ( :
I would leave the graphic off as well.
Have a pretty day!

Well Carol, I kinda like it. I don't think I would have distressed it as much. The box itself is great and I think the blue makes it a bit different. Maybe the others are right about the legs? I love you and your work no matter what Carol! Thanks for sharing all of these great ideas.

Big Hugs,
Jacalyn

Even Van Gogh had off days. Please don't lop your ear off! :o)

Maybe the blue is just too blue. It seems like it is too sharp a contrast to the white. It's a great stand though.

As for the "Table that won't sell", I don't get it. I think it is fabulous.

Happy Saturday, Sweetie! La

The legs were what bugged me right off. The finish on the box is fine (great job)... the legs remind me of late 50's early 60's deco... drop it down shorter and suggest it is a coffee table...even large industrial wheels might work? Fun project!

I agree with the others- get rid of those legs. The chest is massive and heavy looking, and the legs are too spindly- they give the impression the thing will tip or break, even though it won't really. I'd try and find some little short, fat legs, a inch or two high. Also, do you have any old travel stickers around? Those things they used to put on suitcases with names and pictures of different destinations? Some of those, appropriately aged and distressed, might add some interest.

Well, you *did* ask!

I love that little table.

I think it's farmhouse chic. It will sell before that table (sadly).
P.S. Can you email me....I have questions about the new WW program and can't email you thru blogger for some reason (I can't email anyone and I don't know how to change that setting). So, if you email ME first, I can ask away. I appreciate it!

I agree with the others....lose the legs. Maybe no legs at all or bun feet on it would be good. Inquiring minds would like to know how you did the lettering on the top. Maybe a post on that subject...pretty please? xoxo :)

I laughed OUT LOUD at the fuzzy border comment.

I guess I'm lame because I don't think it's so bad. I'm just not a blue person so it wouldn't appeal to me for that reason only.

Does that mean I have bad taste? I don't see it as an epic fail. You should see MY failed projects. Oy!

I think you're being way too hard on yourself. It looks pretty cute to me. I would buy it in heart beat. That's a super cheap price.

Hi Carol,
Lots of suggestions! The white table will sell ~
Glad that you had a good month! More money to buy more goodies with.
Warmly,
deb

Like Lynn asked, I too would like to know how you did the lettering on top. It would be great as just a box with bun feet or no feet at all. Great piece for French cottage decor at a super hot price!

Love that graphic tutorial. I saw that too on someone's blog! I didn't know about paint pens! I am so doing this on my daughter's magazine rack!
Thx!.....love that table that won't sell.
