I Had some questions about how I transferred the French graphics onto my ugly blue box
Thank you for your suggestions on where I went wrong. You were all absolutely right! It was the legs that were wrong. It needed either little legs or no legs at all. A few of you like myself, just don't like blue. If it does not sell I think the least work and expense is to just take the legs off, people love old wood boxes.
Next time I will ask you first!
OK, how did I do the graphics
I went to Graphic Fairies and printed off the graphics.
This is not the same one, just an example
Then you can use carbon paper or do the poor mans carbon. Turn your graphics over and lay your pencil side ways and lightly pencil over the graphics, first one direction and then the other.
Now turn the paper back over, tape it down, and outline the letters from the right side of the paper.
Be sure you have given your wood a light sanding so it is nice and smooth.
This piece was not sanded
Now, if you have a steady hand, have at it, paint away......Me, I like my coffee. I use paint pens.
Fabulous! They have a nice fine point, you can use it to outline or you can paint the middle and outline with the pens,
Let it dry and give it a light sanding
And
You too can have an ugly blue box!
Happy Crafting

ROFLOL....love the last comment, "And you too can have an ugly blue box"
I think it's adorable and you will be amazed, someone will buy it!!!! Seems to me the treasures I adore, no one likes....the treasures less desired by me, are the first to go out the door.
Thank you Lord for letting us all have our own tastes. (Still love your ugly blue box)
Thanks for all the info and your hard work, Amy (Mom to the Four Sisters)
LOL ohhhh you are tooo much ! But you made me think...I already have an ugly blue box on my front porch full of wood stuff that needs doin'.
I don't think your blue box is ugly at all.

Thanks for sharing how you transferred the graphics...what a clever idea!
Hi Carol,
I gotta love your sense of humor girl, you are so funny. I would make a big mess of this project for sure. When it comes to tracing and painting, I'm no good.
Thanks for the tutorial.
hugs

Hey there! I truly did LOL and enjoyed this post! You are very clever...oh yes! I have to have my coffee too. Nice to know what works if you are hooked on caffeine! :)
I just looked at your previous post to see what I missed out on. I do see the missing legs are a good thing! Looks great. Nice to know you are really selling things!

You are hysterical. I want an ugly blue box. I do! I do! This is the very same technique I use to transfer lettering for signs. LOVE IT. My momma taught me to do it when I was in Girl Scouts!
Brilliant!

Hi Carol, I also love those paint pens and actually bought more today! Make sure you show us what you buy at the Extravaganza. I am bummed I was not able to go.

I am one who loves blue and all shades of blue. This shabby box is quite lovely. I agree the legs must go byebye! Little bun feet would be fun in my view. Happy February Hearts...
I just bought some of those paint pens...can't wait to use them! I like the tutorial on the graphics...now I have to get some carbon paper. thanks Carol!~ XO
YAY now I can make my OWN ugly bleu box too lol ;)
I am with you on using paint pens to do lettering. LOVE those.
Love paint pens... I'm going to start on a trunk that's been in my garage for 15 years, as soon as the weather get warmer I will be able to spray paint it.thank you for sharing this tutorial with us. Gotta love The Graphic Fairy....

Your comment about the ugly blue box made me giggle. It isn't ugly. I too think it would look better without the legs. I'd probably put some brown splatters of paint on the edges to age it up more, but that's just me. However, I love the blue and white and the chippy element of it all.
Since THE table hasn't sold, have you even thought about putting a graphic on it too? When I saw your box and then the table, it reminded me of a table Donna at Funk Junk Interiors had on her blog with a graphic. Maybe buyers have just seen it the same way for so long that they aren't looking at it anymore and a new look would do better.
Thanks for the tip about the poor man's carbon. Seems I'm always wanting to copy stuff when I have no carbon paper, so I'll have to try that.
Your post had me laughing out loud. I would love to have an ugly blue box!
You don't give yourself enough credit. It will sell just wait and see!
Where would we be without our paint pens? How we ever live without them....??? lol! Beautiful transformation, Carol! :)
