I have been altering my own clothes forever, but never in A whimsical romantic style with vintage laces.
I wanted to give this a try and it was fun to do!
I found a vintage slip at the thrift store
It still had the original tag. I did a little research and found it was from the late 40's or early 50's. It says it is a size 38.
I added a vintage lace collar around the neckline. The straps and flower are from a vintage night gown and vintage crochet lace was added for sleeve caps and a front applique.
It's lined and has a side zipper.
I think it would make a cute summer dress.
This was a size large long gown that I cut short
I added a vintage collar for sleeve caps then ruffled some vintage lace (I love my ruffle foot) to trim the top and bottom then added eyelet lace around the hem.
I ruffled up some more lace and made roses on one strap
As it turned out the dress was to small for me and the shirt was to big, so I put both in my booth at Orange Tree and priced the long dress at $45 and the shirt at $35.

I just know it was fun to try something new.

I have a huge collection of vintage slips and I never once thought to alter them. Gosh I wish I lived close to you so I could pick your brain at least one or twice a week!

wow,, now thats amazing,, i love to do the very same thing,, I have repurposed old slips into camisoles ,, doll clothes and dried lavendar sachets but this is a really good idea,,so girly girl,,

Oh, I love to sew and dabble in designs....we could have such fun working together! I adore the garments you made and know that they will "fly" away! Thanks for your comments on my post today and oh, how I wish you were here to help me drag that dress form out of the attic!! While I am up there, I will look for the rosewood pattern drafting tools in the original Wells Fargo wrapper. Have you ever seen any? I have not and wonder about their history. The date on the wrapper is 1910......100+ years ago.
They are all so beautiful! Great job adding things/altering them. They do have that whimsical romantic quality to them now.
