I'm Featured in Romantic Homes Magazine!

I'm not sure if it's appropriate to toot your own horn?
"Toot Toot"...Oops....... I guess I'm going to!

In April I told you one of my projects was going to be published.  I was crazy excited, and finally.... here it is the "Make it" section of the November 2011 issue of Romantic Homes Magazine! The article is on making and using water slide decals.

All the details  on how to make and apply water slide decals is in my previous post HERE

Oh Look, a picture of the magazine with the chair, on the chair
This is the November Romantics Homes Holiday decorating issue
Here is how I did the projects,
I found this tin box for .50 at an estate sale

I painted it heirloom white, sanded it, then add water slide decals.  The graphics are all from the fabulous Graphics Fairy.  The beauty of water slide decals is they allow the beauty of the box to show through.  It looks almost like a painted effect.
Romantic Homes informed me the November magazine would be a holiday shopping issue and asked if I could incorporate some holiday projects, which was a stretch in April

A friend found this chair for me at an estate sale, it was a 100 year old choir chair from a church in Michigan

I dry brushed it in blue, sanded, and then added a water slide decal.

OK, I admit it, I'm a brown nose, the name "Luc" is the editors sons name, I figured it couldn't hurt!

Look how water slide decals allow you to still see the details of the wood

I showed you photo's of how I did the photo shoot....Yep, it's all smoke and mirrors

....and now you know the rest of the story!

I've been holding out on you with many projects since this one and now I can share them, so stay tuned for future posts and I will show you some really fun uses for water slide decals beyond candles and soap.

Thanks for listening to me toot!... giggle

Happy Creating!
Carol

Yay! I'll be heading to the local magazine stand just to look for it. (Unless my mom gets that magazine...she might.) I do remember your photo shoot. This would be the second feature, right? The first was the paper dolls??

Anyway, it all looks wonderful, and I'm now looking forward to more posty projects.

Hi Carol,
I am a fairly new follower of your fantastic blog and am SO happy that I learned about the water slide decals!
Question...have you ever wanted to print something that was larger than the 8.5 x 11 size papers? If so, do you do it in sections or do you have it printed at your favorite office supply store?
