Two French Graphic Step Stools

I used to find vintage wooden step stools all the time at thrift stores or estate sales, but they are getting harder to come by

Then last week I found two...YEA!

I did a quick dry brush of homemade chalk paint, the tutorial on dry brushing is HERE.   Then I applied a coat of clear Minwax followed by Annie Sloan dark wax

I finished them off by adding water slide decals to the top, the tutorial on making water slide decals is HERE or available for sale at The Polka Dot Closet.  I finished with another coat of clear Minwax over the water slide decal

The French graphics are from Graphics Fairy

I put these in my booth at Orange Tree Antiques and priced them at $25

Wooden step stools usually sell pretty quick.....Are they good sellers for you?

Happy Creating!

These are really sweet projects, Carol! I could see these looking good just about anywhere ~ inside or out! I've seen quite a few of those small step stool type pieces at the local antique mart, but they are crazy there. They wanted $20.00 for a small one with nothing done to it. I'm looking for maybe a $5.00 one so I can make it over.

The ladder turned out so adorable Carol! I painted the one I had a robin egg blue to use as display but I think I need to put a decal on it.

Still need to find some of that water slide decal paper- they don't seem to have any in the office stores I have tried. Your wonderful posts on all the ways you use them remind me every time!

I love them! I have been looking about for a set but have not found 'the right ones' yet! And you got me hooked on Decals now as well. I have some from a long time ago, currently I am using up the rub ons then on to the we ones. Thanks for always sharing your altered creations

Those step stools are darling! I think I threw out one that was just like the one on the left - probably 10 years ago. I am learning now to never throw out anything. lol Then again, I watched the TV show Hoarders and decided I didn't want to go down that road. :-) Still, I am much more careful about what gets thrown out. That stenciling is beautiful!

I happen to be on the hunt for step stools these days. I'm looking for some simple one step ones to put in various places because I'm so stinking short, and I'm tired of dragging out a chair all of the time when I need to get into a cabinet.

I would love to redo them to look like that. They look wonderful.

So pretty! Ladders are popular..I use them for display in my antique craft fair booths and people kept wanting to buy my ladder at my last show! It was a 4 foot one and I slide painted boards in it to make shelves. I had it loaded and no place to put the stuff so I had to say not for sale!I love the little stools like this and buy them when I can. My best seller lately is aqua mason jars..sold a bunch at my show this Saturday!

Those are adorable. I've still got several water slide decal projects that I want to try and, from what I can see in your photos, it's really hard to tell that they are decals. Much different than decoupage, right?

Another masterpiece...or should I say two masterpieces?!! These are going to be snatched up in a flash.

My GGG Grandmother's maiden name was Fourdinier. She was born in France and migrated to England. I really need to make up something with these graphics one of these days...Don't you think?

Blessings and friendship,
Carolynn xo
