Easy Sew Computer Bag

Did you get a new laptop computer for Christmas?  This is a super easy sew computer bag.

I had previously made some clutch purses....

...And used the same directions for the computer bag as I did for these clutches, I just made them bigger.

Go to Midwestern Girl for the super easy instructions.  There is no sense repeating them, she does such a great job.

I made this computer bag for my niece for Christmas

When I was shopping for fabric for the bag, I thought I had picked out some really cute fabric, but then I decided to ask a teenage girl that was also shopping.  She looked at my fabric selection and said "Oh no, here let me help you"

Oh, I am so uncool! This is the fabric she picked and my niece loved it!

Then I picked the fabric for my bag and I love it!

Thank you Midwestern Girl for the super easy instructions!

I hope you all have a great New Years!

My mind is spinning with all I want to do in 2013
My number one thing I want to accomplish is redoing my Sewing/Craft room

Ok kids, lets hear it....
What is the number one thing you want to accomplish in 2013

Happy Creating!

Oh Carol! I really did laugh out loud at this...are we out of touch or what!
the bag for your youngun is so cool...but I really like yours! I don't have lap top...but if I did, I'd make one of these cuties! I'm going to check out tutorial.
I finally have my machine running in top notch condition and am having fun *learning* to sew. Yes, I've never sewn much...just dinking around. But now...I want to do so much with it!

What will I be doing in 2013? I'll save you trouble from reading my xtra long post...I'm going to be tweaking our shopping/food bill--by cooking from scratch and shopping more frugally. I hope to track it all year!
I also want to sew more! ;)
Have a Happy new year and hope you had a Merry Christmas! Pat

Carol,

The only reason I stay up on anything "cool" is my 19 year old daughter....I still think a lot of the "cool" stuff is so ugly. I like pretty over cool. But what can we do? I love this bag and will have to give it a shot.

Blessings,
Amy Jo

I'm almost sorry it's a bit late (9 pm here) to start in one but I'm really a fan of that cuteness... I almost forgot I don't like sewing when I saw it ahahahah

I can't say about my goals because then it puts too much pressure to achieve ahahah

Well, just one, then. With Crisis hitting so hard my Country I want to remain thoughtful and caring towards others so we can overcome it the best way... we can already see signs of people getting harder and less friendly and I really don't want to go that path... no way.
So glad I have my friendly bloggie friends who nurture and live the same energy and feelings I have.

Cheers to a Brilliant and Happy 2003!!! Thank you for all the thoughtfulness and kindness you sent my way.

Blessings,

Teresa

Cute bags & yes, I like your fabric better. I guess that means we're old & not hip or something! LOL

Happy New Year to you!

I want to pare down and simplify. ONE of those things includes getting my craft room reorganized. It is in the basement and is SOOOO awful- xo Diana ps. LOVE your bag-I need to make one.

Carve a workable studio out of an unused area of my house- #1 on my list. As for the "cool" fabric, I like yours a lot better : )

Here's to pretty over cool, trendy any day. Love your new bag. I have no laptop but I can see making these for other things. Thank you for sharing the how to link. So many things to accomplish in 2013...so little time! De-clutter is my main goal as I am a terrible pack-rat (I just cannot abide with "hoarder"). Blessings with Peace and Joy for all of 2013 dear...

Hi Carol, I love your bags. I have been wanting to make one . . . so this is just the right thing to get me back in the swing of things after the holidays. I don't take my computer on many trips, just because I'm always home, but when I do, I really want to protect it. Thank you . . . I'm excited to make one :)
Happy New Year,
Your blogging sister, Connie :)

Girlfriend is there anything you can't do? You inspire us all! I love my visits here. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for visiting me and your sweet words. Tomorrow is the big day and honestly I'm so tired of living with numb, burning, weak hands that I'm only a LITTLE SKERD! :) I hope to be back to normal soon. My hubby had this surgery and he did great...but I'm a wimp and a whiner so I'm going to make him wait on me hand and foot! :) Teeeee Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

(Totally kidding!).

Happy New Year C! I'll be back to see you when I'm well.

Love to you~

Love your bags! I've already begun my list of Christmas gifts for 2013 and am planning to do "Twelve Days of Christmas" for each of my three children {soon to be four... *wink*). I'm definitely adding an iPad cover for the Firstborn with your darling idea. SO CHEAP, huh?! Hello. And she loves handmade!

2013:
I want to redo the Guest Suite... hang some stuff on my townhouse {c o n c r e t e} walls... save the money for two trips additional trips to the States (one of them will likely be The Firstborn's wedding)... get some pretty, creamy, simply-quilted solid quilts at a January white sale and make new, practical seat covers for my dining room chairs plus a quilt would make a beautiful dining room tablecloth... build/buy two shelving units to organize all my sewing/crafting paraphernalia patterns/supplies/notions into rattan baskets...

And go to the beach every.single.day. {not happening}

Kelley~

Merry late Christmas and Happy New year Carol! I hope all your holidays were fun!Congratulations on your sons wedding. All of your preparations/crafting for the big day were just beautiful! I wish we lived closer so we could have play dates :-) Seriously... Is there anything you can't do?! This little bag is adorable ~ I bought myself an IPad for Christmas and I think this could be the perfect little home for it. My #1 thing to accomplish this year is to get every room in my home organized and decluttered, especially the garage. I would like to buy a Mini Cooper this year and it needs a home. Have a great weekend Carol...XoXo

Happy Almost New Year, Carol! My wishlist for 2013 is filled to the brim with ideas for my booth, "The French Hen", my blog, "Harvest Moon", my charity clown appearances as "Buttons & Bows" and enjoying our sweet little farm. I want to grow more veggies and fruits, can more, and continue to search out fabulous frugal finds! I love checking your blog for great ideas and I've taken tremendous encouragement from your kind words. I have a boatload of fresh December pickings to transform into country-chic pieces for my shop. First on the list: to use my Polka Dot Closet water-decals! I'll post my befores and afters on my blog. So excited! Have a great New Year's Day! ((hug))

Happy New Year Carol! My two teen girls (16 & 19) roll their eyes at me a lot when it comes to "coolness". They don't appreciate my sense of style and they definitely have their own! My goal for this year is to organize my home - all of it. It will take a year but I'm motivated and will be blogging about it and including pictures of before and afters. Yikes. Come over and see!

These are so neat. I should be able to do this. I have a big black ugly bag. I love your rose bag, that is more my style but I do realize I am long past hip.
We are sitting and looking out upon 12 inches of snowfall. More is expected today.
My first resolution is to get back to southern warm winters. Second, to complete six of your tutorials that I have filed.
You are inspirational girl,
Love to all and Happy New Year, Ginger

Hi Carol,
Happy (almost) New Year!!!
I think both bags are great! Of course leaning towards to pink flower one!
Great Question!!!
Since I'm "crabby", I know it is because I'm 20 lbs too fat, so that is 1 thing and then I'm still working on de-cluttering the family roon...plus a few more things!
Those 2 are top of the list!
Warmly,
deb

Both versions look very cool! Yes, I have to admit that my daughter and even my son both help me look a little more hip than granny, when I shop! Haha! Isn't it great? Love the bags, what a great idea.

Hi again, Carol! Please e-mail me your e-addy to mrskjdibble@juno.com. I tried to reply to your comment on Kelley Highway, thinking I had your e-mail address. Besides replying, I want to pick your brain about the book page wedding cake centerpieces I'm doing for the marriage retreat on Guam in two weeks. I'm not on Pinterest but found a Googlezillion ideas that have inspired me. Plus, I also Googled wedding cakes for ideas. I want each cake to be a little different and have a little different groom/bride topper.

Thanks!!!!!
Kelley~

I love this - so funny about choosing the fabric! I often as my 21 year old daughters for advice on pattern choices and styles for dresses, etc. I like these instructions -- easy to follow and the result looks very professional with your embellishments.

Hi Carol, Happy New Year! My mind is spinning with all I want to do to. I thought I might be taking it easy Jan. & Feb. but January is already filled with a million things. I managed to find a lot at farm auctions in December so have lots to list on the website. Baby came today....he's so big he doesn't even look like a new born. :)

I'm not your age, but apparently I'm uncool too because I like your fabric better too. *sigh* I guess this confirms I'm old. A few years ago I started looking at teens and started noticing just how young they looked. Then I realized it was half a lifetime ago I was their age. Then I felt ancient. *Hee hee*

Too many goals for 2013, but I do hope to get my life in general more organized.

Thanks for dropping by my blog last night. I'm looking forward to start visiting everyone again! Happy New Year!

The laptop bags are beautiful Carol! It was a great idea to ask a teenager on fabric selection. The fabric is very modern and pretty. So fitting for a teen.

Have fun decorating your craft sewing room. I hope to finish my home office :) I have so many ideas for the room.

I have lots of little projects planned, but my main goal is to do something creative daily. I just started a book (making, not reading) yesterday and it felt so good to be doing art.

I might make one of your bags for my iPad.

Thanks for sharing.

The computer bags are terrific! I'm not very hip myself, but I still love the pattern the young girl helped you choose. I love yours too. It's very *Carol*.

The one thing I want to accomplish?
Well, around the home place I'm looking at some major changes in the kitchen, but what I really and truly want to do is figure out a way to get rid of my random case of life disorder and get back into a groove.

Without drugs...
