Transforming A Display Case End Table

I hope you all had a great 4th of July! I hosted a fun BBQ party that was almost rained out.  Here in Orlando we've had unusual weather--with days and days of rain. But, today I had a ray of sunshine to photograph this display table.

When I found this display end table, I thought "Oh yeah...there are some possibilities here!"

I wiped the wood with deglosser--my alternative to sanding (you can find it at any home improvement store)--then painted it with homemade chalk paint.  Then I gave it a light distressing and finished with clear Minwax.

Of course me..."Miss Shabby"...couldn't tolerate the red liner...

...However, due to the way it was adhered, it was impossible to remove; I had to go to "plan B"...

...I used some spray adhesive to cover foam core (Purchased from the dollar store) with a French graphic fabric...

...Then glued it down with E-6000.

The finishing touch was adding a vintage brooch to the front which I also glued with E-6000.

This will be going in my booth at Orange Tree Antiques.

I'll be asking the owner for help on pricing this, I'm thinking somewhere between, $70-$80...?

Wouldn't this be a great display table for wedding memorabilia, jewelry, or any family heirloom?

Because of all the glass, painting was tedious but not difficult at all.

OK...off to other projects!

A big thank you for all of your kind congratulations on my Somerset Life article...you are all sooooo kind!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Creating!
