How To Age Baskets.... Products For The Fancy Flea

Aged To Perfection

It has been so fun to pick items from Barr Display to sell at the Fancy Flea November 2  (You can read about my partnership with Barr Display and the Fancy Flea HERE).   I'm sure because of the versatility and inexpensive price, these baskets will be a huge hit at the Flea

Now, these baskets look great just as they are, but I wanted to see what they would look like if they were aged.

This was really easy...I dipped steal wool in apple cider vinegar and wiped it over the basket...That's it!  I have no idea why it works, but it's magic, sit back and watch the basket age as it dries.

Now for the fun part.  I had an old apple label I put on this basket

For the second basket after I aged it, I dry brushed it with white paint (You can see my post on how to dry brush HERE).  For the "Fresh Eggs" label, I printed on Fabric (tutorial HERE) and used spray adhesive to attach it to the basket.

I took two images and merged them.  The rooster was from Graphics Fairy and the Fresh eggs from Google free images.  Then I smudged a little brown ink around the edges.

Yep, from perfectly new to perfectly aged

Fancy Flea 2012

Saturday I attended the Fancy Flea, there were 310 vendors loaded with all the things we love

Twice a year the Fancy Flea is held in Lakeland Florida.  I was a vendor last April, but Saturday I just enjoyed the day shopping and drooling

Paris Rags always has the cutest booth

I don't remember who's booth this was, but I loved these pumpkins

Loved this dress

How cute are these robes made with vintage table cloths and chenille bed spreads

This was a pretty booth

Isn't this a cute entrance to this vendors space "Chic to Antiques"

It was all about burlap at Heart Vintage Designs

I don't know about you, but I get so inspired when I go to these events!

On another note, incase you are keeping track ....Today marks the 17 day count down to my son's wedding...Shut the door, I get nervous, just typing that.  My usually tidy little house has become wedding central, there is bins filled with rehearsal dinner and wedding decor everywhere.  I'll post soon about the final projects and preparations...I can't believe it is almost here....Take a breath...Slow deep breaths!

Eye Candy From Fellow Vendors At The Fancy Flea

I wanted to give you a glimpse of some of the other vendors at the Fancy Flea, their booths were so crazy cute.   I was only able to walk down 4 booths on each side, so I missed so many of my friends!  There was 218 vendors.......Here's a glimpse of just a few!

This is Cassandra Van Curen  and her friend Karen Hillman

These are my friends Sue and Kathy from Chic and Shabby

This is Paris Rags

Sylvia from My Trinkets

My friend Denise from Rusty Gate Antiques got a great picture of the crowd

Can you believe all of these shoppers!!

What a day, what gorgeous booths, I really believe a huge key to getting sales is in the presentation, and these talented ladies sure gave me something to aspire to!

Me and The Fancy Flea

I did it, I can cross it off my Bucket list, I have now officially been a vendor...Yea!

Everything was perfect!  The travel, set up, fellow vendors, customers, take down, and even the weather was perfect.  It was a little warm, but I honestly did not notice under the shade of my tent.

My friends Janice, Stephanie, and I got up at 4:30....That would be am YIKKES and drove the truck around the corner from the hotel, unloaded, and set up our booths

Here's The Polka Dot Closet

Here's my friend Janice's booth

The show opened at 9am with 218 vendors

This cabinet sold for $95 before the show started, pretty funny, the guy I sold it to asked me if that was my best price.....Ah yea, since the show did not even officially open for 15 minutes!

I was using my little pocket camera, so excuse the pictures

This was my table full of small crafting items

I put my fabric flowers on my dress form.  I made my fabric flowers into pins and added vintage bling to the center and sold them for $10 each

The fabric flower tutorial is Here
The dress form tutorial is Here

Well, this looks a little messy, kind of like after a storm my neighbors ran around my yard and gathered my belongings that were salvageable lol!

I thought my booth looked Ok, of course you wish you had a day to set it up, but since you don't, you do the best you can

Oh CRIPES, I hate pictures of myself, but I know as a blogger people like to know who they are reading so, it is with great reservation that  I publish this picture.

I have to say a HUGE HI to all of my blog readers that stopped by.  I don't in any way want to sound like a pompous butt, I just want you to know I was overwhelmed by your kindness, I had readers that brought me gifts and threw out phrases like, inspiration, love your blog, and you encouraged me to start crafting again.   Here's the deal, in my real life I'm just Carol, the lady that likes to craft, but for 7 hours on April 28, 2012 the second anniversary of my first blog post you made me feel like a "Rock Star" and for that, there is not a Thank You large enough!

Happy Crafting!
Carol

My next post I'll share with you fellow vendors booths, what did and didn't sell, and give you an insight into my experience along with the good, the bad, and if would I do it again........Oh yea, this is a cliff hanger if I ever heard one.
