Pink and Gold Gilded Cabinet

Happy New Years!  My first project of 2013

I feel like a ran a marathon last year, starting with the Fancy Flea (My first crack at being a vendor).  Then straight into The Wedding rehearsal dinner projects, my Daughter in law staying with me for 4 months and MANY DIY wedding projects...The Wedding on Thanksgiving weekend, then Christmas, New Years and ...Yea I survived a super fun year!  

I have so many ideas and plans for 2013...Lets get started!

This was the cabinet in my entrance way (Actually right inside the front door..I don't have an entrance way lol) and it was driving me crazy, it was so outdated 

Hello the 90's called and want their cabinet back!

When I did my home tour I tried to disguise it by showing this picture.  Oh, see the pretty round mirror....Well...

It guess it's going to be a bad 7 years! I broke the mirror!

I thought Ok, now is the time to paint this beast!   I found this new mirror at the thrift store for $14.14 (Our thrift store does weird prices like this) and it worked well with the cabinet

This is one cheap piece of furniture.  I got it 15 years ago at "Big Lots", it's particle board, with hollow doors and knobs that are glued on, 

I did a test run with the gold Rub and Buff

And oop's pink paint on this piece HERE

I kind of liked it so I went to work on the cabinet

The knobs were glued on so I was not able to change them

I used a little Annie Sloan dark wax over the whole piece with a little heavier application in the crevices.   

Then highlighted the trim with gold Rub and Buff (Which goes on after the wax) and I was done.

It looks much better than it did and... It's growing on me, I've never had a piece of pink furniture!

Shabby Telephone Table

I found a wonderful telephone table at an estate sale, of course I had to Shabby it up!

I Sprayed it with heirloom white paint, I've done a lot of brush painting lately, but with the open scrolls on the sides, spraying was easier and I was in a hurry to get some furniture in my antiques booth

I used my water slide decal on the front..Tutorial HERE  The Graphic is from Graphics Fairy

Oh, it's got to be pretty on the inside too, so I used a shelf liner I bought at the Dollar store

I priced this at $45 and took it to my

 "OH SO EMPTY" booth at Orange Tree

I've been painting up a storm.  My booth was so neglected while I was focused on the wedding, I usually check my booth twice a week, here's my booth as I left it before the wedding

And here is how I found it after the wedding... How great is that!  I love to look at the pictures and play the "What's missing game"!

Along with the telephone table, I painted a tall plant stand and some other furniture pieces......

And got my booth filled up once again!

Yippee, I'm catching up! 

 I got so behind with all of the wedding prep and festivities.

Yep, Carol's got her groove back!

French Serving Tray

I love to transform serving trays from the 70's

I snap them up anytime I can, so sweet....But, not so trendy

I give them a coat of white paint and wax, then the fun part... 

....Since it has a glass top you can use fabric, needlepoint, vintage material, paper, you can even use those vintage plastic tablecloths...

...I used Paris script fabric I purchased online HERE

I put this in my booth at Orange Tree Antiques and priced it at $20 and... Oh la la, it sold the first day!

Tool Caddy Transformation

So, there I was at the last day of an estate sale and I find this great tool caddy in the garage

I don't get it, no one else wanted it?  Maybe it wasn't great?  Sometimes I wonder how there can be neat things left the last day of an estate sale.

Maybe no one saw it?  It was full of old tools and screws and layers of grease

I used a dry brush of homemade chalk paint and then pulled out the vintage rubber stamps I nabbed at auction last year for $11 dollars...Love them

After I stamped I used clear wax and Annie Sloan dark wax

This would be a great tote for crafting or garden supplies

Oh, come on ...Who's the cutest cat...Billie!

I'm going to put this in my booth at Orange Tree and price it at $38..Watch someone will buy this thinking...."Hey this will be great after a good coat of paint!!"

Shabby Rocking Horse Transformation

 It's so fun to transform something besides the usual furniture, this time it was a vintage rocking horse

The owner of Orange Tree Antiques gave me this poor little pony, she thought maybe I could do something with it....Giddy up...

....Oh yes I could, I painted it with homemade chalk paint in heirloom white...She already feels better....Oh yes, she's a girl pony for sure! 

 Then I sanded her a little and used Annie Sloan dark wax to age her and applied water slide decals of roses on her legs.

I have had a lot of requests to make flower water slide decals to sell and I promise you, it is on my list to do after my son's November wedding.

The horse's mane was upholstery fringe I already had and the pearl eyes were from vintage earrings

And there you have it......Meet...."Abby Rose"

OH, I don't think it's ever a good idea to name your projects.....

....If I had a girl this would be staying right here.   Can't you see this in a little girls room or a nursery?

"Abby Rose" galloped over to my booth at Orange Tree Antiques where I priced her at $45.00

I love doing transformations, but I have to tell you....Some are a lot more fun than others!

A Sweet Stenciled Table and Blogging...How Do I Do It!

I admit stenciling a table is not a real WOW, it's just that sometimes you get just the right table, stencil, and paint.....

 ....And the finished project turns out nice enough to share

I haven't stenciled in a long time, but then my subscription to "Do it Yourself" arrived and it came with a bonus magazine "Fun with paint" loaded with stencil projects

So, when I was trying to figure out what to do with this little table

I decided to "Get my stencil on"

I painted the table with ballerina pink and used my Martha Stewart Stencils

I filled in the stencil with the grey paint that I had special mixed at Ace for my desk transformation

Then I finished the top with a clear coat of wax

And put it in my booth at Orange Tree, priced at $32
