Two French Graphic Step Stools

I used to find vintage wooden step stools all the time at thrift stores or estate sales, but they are getting harder to come by

Then last week I found two...YEA!

I did a quick dry brush of homemade chalk paint, the tutorial on dry brushing is HERE.   Then I applied a coat of clear Minwax followed by Annie Sloan dark wax   

I finished them off by adding water slide decals to the top, the tutorial on making water slide decals is HERE or available for sale at The Polka Dot Closet.  I finished with another coat of clear Minwax over the water slide decal

The French graphics are from Graphics Fairy

I put these in my booth at Orange Tree Antiques and priced them at $25

Wooden step stools usually sell pretty quick.....Are they good sellers for you?

Fancy Stools and the Naturalizer Shoe Winner

I'm having fun getting merchandise ready for the Fancy Flea in Lakeland Florida.

I've always wanted to be a vendor at a show, it's been on my bucket list for a long time and I'm finally going to do it!!   It's 11 days away! 

Here's a couple stools that are anxiously awaiting the Flea

I painted these stools in heirloom white then after a little sanding I added a water slide decal And Graphic from Graphics Fairy...I added the rose to the graphic

I always finish my furniture with 2-3 coats of Minwax wipe on polyacrylic from Home Depot

I will price the little stool at $28 and the large stool at $34

Sweet Vintage Bottles

Anything with water slide decals on it has been a hot seller in my booth at Orange Tree Antiques and sweet vintage bottles are no exception

I know my friends with booths and online stores are always looking for ideas so, this might be something to keep in mind. 

I add waterslide decals and... if the mood hits me......

I fancy them up a little  

You can buy a bag of assorted corks at any craft store

If only there was a vintage bottle store, but there is no such thing so..... Keep your eyes open at thrift and estate sales, you'll find them!

Vintage Bottle Labels

I'm in love with vintage bottles...Along with wedding dresses, fabric, lace, buttons, etc. etc.

I picked up a box of bottles at auction

And added water slide decals on these seltzer bottles with graphics from Graphics Fairy

While the water slide decal was still wet I rubbed it to take some of the writing off, I love the translucent effect I get from the water slide decals

I'm thinking these look 100 years old...OK, Maybe 20 years old

I kept one to put in my linen cupboard

and put the other two in my booth at Orange Tree 

So, what's your weakness?? fabric,lace,bottles,buttons.........

The Yellow Box & Giving Thanks

This is a World War two ammunitions box that needed a little love

I started with a bright yellow box

When I sanded it I found blue paint under the yellow

I darkened it up a little with some brown gel stain

And added a water slide decal with a graphics from the Graphics Fairy.  I love decals because you can see the wood grain right through them.  

I priced it at $25 and put it my booth at Orange Tree Antiques

Water Slide Decal Boxes

Before I show you more water slide decal projects I've completed

I wanted to let you know that I ordered blank water slide decal paper, but I was disappointed in the quality when testing it.  

You are all so sweet and I appreciate your interest in me stocking it in my online store, but of course I would never sell something that I did not think was excellent quality.  So, for now I recommend you purchase the blank decal paper from Papilio

Here is an easy to find metal tool box

Not to exciting until I gave it a coat of heirloom white paint....

...A little sanding, water slide decals, and graphics printed on sheet music.  All of the graphics are from Graphics Fairy

I put both of these boxes in my booth at Orange Tree Antiques and they sold immediately.  

I am so disappointed  I was not able to stock blank water slide decals for you!

 For those of you that have booths, anything with decals on it sells immediately.  I have sold every  box...

Yep, anything with graphics on it is hot....for now, but trends change and I'm sure people will be sanding off all of our graphics in a few years.

Water Slide Decal French Step Stools

I am so excited to show you these step stools I applied French water slide decals to

I had questions on my last post about why I use water slide decals instead of say, decoupaging on a graphic.  This stool is a perfect example, decals allow you to see through to the surface of whatever you put it on, it could be chippy paint, wood grain, or rust and it gives the graphics a painted on effect! 

This stool is just as I found it, I gave it a good scrub and water slide graphics

This step ladder was a thrift store find

I dry brushed with blue paint

And a graphics from Graphics Fairies  

Decoupaging a paper graphic would not allow you to see the surface behind it. 

I hate the pink color I sprayed this stool...Can we say Pepto Bismol YUK!

Even with gel stain it is still to pink...Oh Well

Check out the wood grain showing through the decal, it was a little difficult to do a large decal like this, I did not get is perfectly centered, bummer! 

 I finished all of these stools with wipe-on poly acrylic

For all of my bloggy friends that have antiques booths, step stools and stools with French graphic decals have sold really well for me,  I price them between $26-$36
