Goose Creek Candle Giveaway

I'm thrilled to offer you this great giveaway.  I was contacted by the nice people at Goose Creek Candle Co. to review a candle of my choice

I love candles, I was a groovy girl in the 70's when we always had a candle or incense burning, a habit I continue today...Well, not the incense part

The "Flavor" I choose was "Spun Sugar"  OH MY...Oh yum, here's my confession, I'm not a baker, but love my house to smell like I am!  I lit this fabulous candle and within minutes the whole  house smelled like Sugar!

They have a large and unique selection of scents including "Apple Bourbon" and "Orange Berry Slush"

There are two unique qualities this candle has that I have never found in all of the candles I have used

The first is the jar design, this is gorgeous, look at the lid, this is something I don't mind keeping out on my table and when the candle is gone I'll still have a gorgeous jar with a tight sealing lid

The second amazing thing is the house retained the "Spun Sugar" smell for 2 full days after I burned the candle for 3 hours one evening

So, here are two great offers for you from the nice people at

You can use code 0904 to get 25% off your entire purchase until September 30th.  They have a great selection of Halloween candles in stock now!

And

One lucky reader will win a 16oz American Heirloom Candle of their choice!
Just leave a comment
The drawing by random number.org will be held on Sunday night 9/9/12
This giveaway is now closed
I have allowed for Anonymous comments, if you comment anonymously please leave an email or way I can contact you

I was compensated to write this post, but the opinions are 100% mine  and I can say with 100% certainty that I LOVE this candle

Good luck and Happy Creating!

Travel Themed Wedding Shower

Last Sunday was my future DIL's wedding shower hosted by her Mom and Sister.  The whole shower had a travel theme that was kicked off by adorable invites that looked like luggage tags.

Just a note about the R. C. P. ....Or Really, Crummy, Pictures, a girl can't drag her tripod and SLR camera everywhere, sometimes she takes her shiny red pocket Kodak and horror's she use's flash...Sorry

Shower programs and gifts for the guests

The bride to be's Dad is a chef and he prepared fabulous food from around the world.....YUMMMM! (Trust me the empty pans got filled with food)

Beverages...Oh Ya, that's Sangria!

Here's the Bride, My Mom, and I  (Yuk, a couple times a year a blogger has to show her picture...It's a blogger law!  Thankfully the law does not say how large the picture has to be).  In case it escaped you, "The Polka Dot Closet" is wearing a polka dot dress...Groan!

The Future bride and Her Mother, the hostess of this fabulous shower

There was a huge surprise for everyone! My son is in DC and the shower was in Florida......Enter Technology!!!
My Son surprised his bride to be by Skyping in from DC...

...To play an engagement version of the newlywed game.

Here's how it worked, the bride's Mom and Sister sent my son questions about his his future bride, he wrote the answers down ahead of time and she had to guess what he would say.

This question was "What food does your future bride like that you can't stand"?.  She answered the question and then he held his answer up to the computer screen......He got it right!

This was so fun and it gave the shower guests he had not met a chance to get to know him

After she opened presents

We had coffee

And delicious Desserts.....

....And said our goodbyes, followed by "See you at the wedding"
Then Mom and I hit the road for the 2 hour trip from Clearwater back to Orlando.  It was the perfect shower and the perfect weekend!

Happy Creating

Wedding Shower Gift

I just got back from my future DIL's wedding shower.  Mom and I drove down to Clearwater from Orlando, spent the night, and then enjoyed a fabulous shower yesterday hosted by the DIL's Sister and Mom.

I will share tons of shower pictures with you later this week.

It was a travel themed shower. The very creative Mother of the bride made these adorable travel themed invites

Now, I know this was not your typical wedding shower gift like towels or sheets, but it was the perfect gift for my son and his fiance

It started with a rusty old tool box I sanded, painted, and then added water slide decal travel stickers to go with the shower travel theme.  You see, these "Kids" love antiques, junking, estate sales, and refinishing furniture. They sold their refinished wares at their first show 2 months ago....Yep, their hooked.....The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!  So, I knew they would love some supplies to feed their habit

The future DIL has talked about Annie Sloan paint, but it's a little pricey, and she has not been able to bring herself to purchase any....So..

I included some, along with the wax

I finished the inside of the tool box with sheet music and a saying by Dr Suess

And a note from Mom (Me)

I am so thrilled that these "Kids" love junking and DIY projects, not just because I love it (OK, that doesn't hurt) but, because I think when a couple has a shared interest it will bring such joy to their marriage and be the (Hot) glue that binds them

Since my DIL has been living with me (Her and my son live in DC, where she works for the Senate, but she is staying with me for four month while working on the Florida Senator's re-election campaign) we have had tons of fun going to estate sales and thrift stores.

I am so proud of her, not just because she's beautiful, smart, and accomplished.  It's because my heart grew 10 times larger the day we were in a shed at an estate sale, and she was digging through rat poop looking for a buried estate sale treasure.....Yep, couldn't be prouder if I'd of birthed her myself!

Stay tuned for more shower pictures later in the week.........

Happy Creating!

Wedding Hangers For The Bride and Bridesmaids

Until my son got engaged I was totally out of the loop as to the latest wedding trends.  Something that is popular now is special hangers for for the bride and bridesmaids

Besides being a gift for the bridesmaids it's also used for pictures, the bride and her maids (That sounds funny) all hang their dresses up before the wedding for a photo

The future DIL and I had thrown around the idea of doing really fancy hangers like the ones I made HERE

But, then the she found white wooden hangers and another Idea was born.....

We used frame graphics from the Graphics Fairy, photo shopped in a rose, and added their names

These were printed on water slide decals (The water slide tutorial is HERE) and finished with a bow.  The water slide decal makes it look like the graphic was painted right on the hanger

I have to ask the Mother's of the Groom, did it kind of freak you out a little the first time you saw in print "Mrs" with your name?  I never gave it any thought before we made these hangers.  It's kind of like OMG, my kid's getting married, and "She" gets my name LOL!

This weekend my Mom and I are heading from Orlando to Clearwater for the DIL's wedding shower, I'll take lots of pictures to share...Have a great holiday weekend.

Fabric Flower Bracelet Corsages For The Usherettes

We're in high gear for my son's November wedding...Next on the list.....corsage bracelets for the usherettes

My son's two cousins who are in high school and college are going to be usherettes at the wedding.  My future DIL came up with the idea to make them corsage bracelets

Starting with two pink pearl bracelets

We made the same fabric flowers used in the bride's and bridesmaids bouquets

The fabric flower tutorial is HERE

After stitching the flowers on the bracelets vintage earrings were hot glued in the center

Now, to box them up real pretty I cut a section off a roll that fabric came on and used a cupcake box from Michael's Crafts

After covering the roll with fabric the bracelet was nestled in vintage tulle

Then the box was decorated with a ribbon bow and vintage jewels....
......OHHH, it turned out so cute...I want one!!

Now the usherettes will have cute little corsage bracelets that match the brides and bridesmaids bouquets

Oh Ya, I'm in fabric flower heaven and having so much fun!

I have a drawing still going on for Eco Natural Soaps Here
